Yes, i have seen some additional backlinks to my site from my webmaster area but not as much as i had expected. maybe that is what google had indexed for now or maybe others are nofollow sites. I will continue with linkbuilding for the time being and study more seos. I am studying some website called seoinpractice and they seem to have a lot to offer in terms of on page optimization and seo monitoring. anybody who has any tool or resources to recommend?
My perspective of PR is that you are trying to guess Google's algorithm based on the observations. But you know , that nobody knows Google's algo. I dont trust SEO firms when they say that they can increase your page rank. One observation we know is high pr ( good authority, related niche and content) can help in increasing PR. What about several other factors? Everyone says content is the king and it is true. Quality Content can increase your PR, make more backlinks, more traffic and Google with rate you higher. correct me , if anyone finds something wrong here.
I find pretty much everything in your comment to be wrong. Quality content CAN'T increase your PageRank. The content might very well affect your RANKING, but not your PageRank (as long as the page is indexed). The Google bot can't fucking read the content and judge whether or not your points are good, so your post is just silly. Sure, a site with good content might over time get some natural links, but then the PageRank is a result of those links. And this phenomenon is why you say 'content is king'. Also, the Google algo determens your RANKING, not your PageRank. PageRank is a factor in the Google algo (no matter how powerfull or weak it is). The Google PageRank is described in the article "The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine" by Lawrence Page Source: http://infolab.stanford.edu/~backrub/google.html
It doesn't matter what PageRank the frontpage of a site has. The ONLY thing that matters (in reference to PageRank) is the PageRank of the EXACT page YOUR LINK is on, which in this case most likely is either PR NA or PR0. In addition to this, on Blogger you create a subdomain and according to Google both domains and subdomains are considered equal. Meaning, site.com and sub.site.com has just as much in commen as siteA.com and siteB.com. No PageRank (of course considering there isn't a link between them), trust etc. is passed on. you have to realize that the reason why your sites PageRank is still zero, is because you beleive in all the crap shared on this forum.
1. PR update happens approx. once in 3 months (althought this one is taking more than this). Changes in your PR, if any, will be visible once in every 3-4 months, so you have to be patient; 2. It's not about quantity, but about QUALITY of your backlinks. One site may have only 10-20 links, but to have PR 5 and you with your 3000+ links may still have PR 0! 3. The so-called one-way links are the one that will help you boost your PR best. Reciprocal links also help, but they pass less link juice; 4. Also try to target websites with less outbound links, for example no more than 4 or 5. The less outgoing links, the more link juice. It's enough for a start Best of luck and be more patient
liacor, thanks for your advice, let me do what can for now hoping that in the next update my blog will get a new rank. And for siflur, the google reseach was very enlightening. There are lots of jargons there that are not defined rightly by the commercial crowd. The problem is that marketers lack the capacity to really use words the way academics use them. I already know that SERP is different from what is called PR. The former can be seen on google search results and the latter using only google pagerank toolbar or other similar programs. Thanks all. We are all learning.
You are welcome, mate And don't pay too much attention to PR... positions and traffic are much more important
