300 or 500 inbound links from directories at once - will it alert Google?

There's lots of directory submission services on DP. Lets say a site only has a couple of back links and then somebody uses a directory submission service which gets it listed in 500 directories within a few days, will that not cause the search engines to get suspicious and downgrade or even delist the site as a result? Or is it not a cause of concern?

    Cheers :)

I don't think it would. Firstly, you won't get accepted into all of them. Secondly, acceptance will occur over the period of weeks or months.

From past experience with my customers websites, i never seen any downside to this. Up to the most i did was 1000 in a day, and now their having no problems in google's serps.

you could submit 10 000 in one day and it porb wouldnt affect you. Due o the time it takes for each of ur submissions to be accepted and then indexed via them spider thingos.

    Use my submission service :D

    A few things to consider:

    1. The directories won't all approve your links simultaneously. In fact they won't all approve your links anyway... But even of the ones that do approve, they won't be approved simultaneously. It'll be over the course of some time.

    2. The sub pages that your links will be going on will not be crawled immediately. It could take months before the search engines even know about these links.

    3. Even if somehow the links did show up simultaneously, I think the worst thing that Google would do is not count the links. If Google were to delists sites just for getting a lot of links back in a short period then that would open the doors to a lot of tricky behavior by people trying to get their competitor's sites delisted.

Thanks for the feedback. I was concerned that the search engines may see it as an unnatural link building pattern, but your arguments make sense.

Most directories take awhile approving submissions so you will be fine. It's not like you're getting 1000 links in one day.
