Contest $300 Jewelry Website Design Contest. Ends Friday, 3/26. (5 Days Only)

Project Overview: I need a new home page design for a Wedding Rings Jeweler named Elliot Skye. Elliot Skye is a classy, simple, elegant jewelry brand that focuses on wedding and engagement rings.

Here are the design requirements:
- Total Image Size 1400px wide including background and at least 1300px tall.
- The main body of the website is 1000px wide
- 3 columns, with banners that are approx 300x160.

To provide an idea of what type of general look we are looking to achieve, I’ve provided a basic screenshot per the design requirements above. Also, all the images that you need for the design are provided:

To Enter the Contest, you need to submit 2 screenshots.

Color/ Logo / Font
- Elliot Skye is looking to create a new look and brand, so we are open to any color scheme, logo, and font. However, we’d prefer the background color to be some kind of dark or regal blue, perhaps even a simple / classy looking texture or pattern, like a dark blue linen.
- There is no official logo or font, so we are open to your creativeness and design. For the brand name, we would like a font that is not so common and presents itself as classy and expensive, but simple to read.

If you have any questions, please reply to this thread (No PMs). And Please post to this thread to submit your design. I have always given follow up work to previous winners so this contest will also result in a long term project worth at least $1000.

The contest will end at the end of Friday, 3/26. If you win the contest, you will need to provide 2 additional screenshots based off the homepage design. 1 will be the category page and the 2nd will be the product list page. This should be easy since the main template is established and only the main content needs to be altered a bit.

We are paying top dollar for this contest so we are looking for top quality designs. Also, the earlier you submit, the earlier I can provide feedback so you can make revisions and have a better chance of winning. Payment will be made via Paypal.

I'm sorry to ask silly questions, but the problem is that I don't know a lot of english (I'm Spanish). I just want to know if I've understood correctly:
I've got to prepare 2 web designs: - A homepage for a jewerly website
- A design for the Product Detail webpage.
And submit the screenshots in this post.

So if I win I have to give 2 more screenshots: - 1 for the category
-anotherone for the product list.
But these 2 last screenshots are IN the contest?, I mean, is it extra work that then you'll pay the winner exra money to design these pages (apart from the 300$), or are they IN the contest ( you pay 300$ for all the 4 designs).
And one last question: the winner has to give the final work in a layered .psd format?

 

I'm sorry for so many questions, but I've got some other ones: what are security seals? . and you said you wanted a 3column template for banners, how many banners per column? And what's Connect with ES via Blog?

 

Answers to questions:
Yes, to enter the contest, you need to provide 2 screenshots. 1 Homepage and 1 Product Detail screeshot.

Yes, if you win the contest, I would like to have 2 additional screenshots. 1 Category page and 1 Product list page. These are easy and are included in the $300 contest. For example, the product list pg will have 5 columns of product thumbnails. So instead of having 3 columns like the homepage, we just need to put a smaller thumbnail pic 5 times on 5 rows.

Yes, if you win, we will need the final work in .PSD.

- Security Seals are the small banners on the bottom for Verisign, McAffe Secure, Bizrate, Paypal/Google Checkout, Visa/Mastercard, etc.
- 1 Banner per Column. You can see an example with exact specs if you look at the screenshot provided in the link. It would probably answer most of your questions.
- Connect with ES (Elliot Skye) via blog is simply a link to our blog, perhaps a headline link.

Humorous.tv, if I don't get any good entries, then I will extend the contest a few days. However, If I get a design I like and am confident with, then the contest will end on Friday as stated and as I hope. So I would advise to submit asap. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, due to everyone's request to extend the contest since the 5 days was not enough, I will extend this contest 1 week from today until next Wed to give everyone enough time to enter their best quality design.

DearaDesigns, did you see the screenshot that I posted? I'm guessing you must have since you used 1 of the banners. This website will have no left hand navigation, only a top navigation. And I also gave pretty exact specs for the banner sizes, like the 935 x 230 Homepage Banner.

Wich is the banner you're talking about? Is it the one that says "Find the Perfect Wedding Ring"? Im sorry about the size of the banners, I'll change that ( had forgotten about it).

The layout is fine, but I don’t really like the background or the space age looking banner.

I do like the product detail page though. They layout is pretty good, except the product shot is usually around 280 x 280.

I like the also viewed row of items.

Overall, in order to be more competitive, the color and style needs to be better integrated. I prefer a more simple font for the name as well.

I do like some things about your overall design and colors, but it’s a bit too web 2.0 for a jewelry site. Also, the middle content banners where it says ‘Wedding Rings’ looks like business cards to me.

The overall look is a bit too dark for me. And the cursive font is a bit too fancy and hard to read.

I like the colors that you used and the logo that you made. I like how you use the orange button for important buttons.

I don’t really like the floating banner area, but I do like the rotating banner. Also, there are no category banners in the center content. There should not be any products for sale on the homepage.

I don’t really like the coupon looking banners on the rt hand side. It makes it look like coupons and cheapens the look.

The bottom area is nicely done.
