    Day 11
    ---------

    May 9, 2009
    12:21am MST (Arizona)

The third article for project GOLDFISH is now completed after a good deal of research to flesh
out what I'd gotten done earlier. Glittersoul got called up for her first day at her new job with
just a few hours to prepare. Running a household (we're roomies) on top of this project can get hectic but we delegate well. Things seem to be crawling along much more slowly than we'd like, but a large part of that is "real life" refusing to play by our rules. We've come to the
conclusion that the vast majority of this entrepreneurial stuff is about rolling with the punches.

So far the sites we're selling to raise capital have not yet received bids, but that's alright. The articles for GOLDFISH need to be done before we go buying its domain because a domain with no articles isn't super helpful.

I'd write more but I've been up so long I don't feel super coherent. :)

More in 24 (hours, or so)

PS - blackmarket, we don't blame ya! :) and maxearn, you bring a lot to the table... and you're beating us to what we'll be unrolling within a month or two.. :) Hope that's vague enough!

GioBuffin, dailywptheme & screationz, thank you all for joining in! It's sort of a slog at this point, but we're starting to pick up momentum so hopefully we can ramp up the progress rate here shortly :)

I must say I'll be thrilled when the project's earned enough so we can purchase some articles instead of me writing each one by hand!

Keeping an eye on your progress. :) Hey by the way, why dont you use some project mgmt tools to summerise your work on GOLDFISH, like use of graphs, spreadsheets will throw a clear light on how much you are on course and where you have gone off !

This is just a thought... may be helpful to you.

    Day 11
    ---------

    May 10, 2009
    2:31am MST (Arizona)

We did a little re-focus work today, adjusting our approach because I felt like we needed our list of articles to be a little tighter. I find that when researching a niche (even one I have a pretty good handle on), I tend to find out new information not just on a single topic but about half the time I end up discovering whole other categories. That and I always want each of my articles to be as good as I can possibly make them which means a good deal of research instead of spinning a Wikipedia article. :) This means I need more focus on exactly WHAT to do next rather than simply dashing around from one thing to the next.

After the re-adjusting we discovered more tasks that need to be done immediately. Since we don't have the money for the first domain yet (thanks to the city of Phoenix for their rather steeply-priced traffic school - see post on first page of this thread for details) we end up trying to do busy work towards the site's establishment. We're still monkeying with our strategies and this is part of the reason why we've not yet posted any expectations/results metrics: we're still figuring out WHERE we need to set our expectations and how quickly we actually accomplish things. We don't see too much point in making unreasonable goals and then failing. We fail enough as it is! ;-)

So.. One more article out of the way.. another being researched. A very long day is now over with..

We'll have more in (hopefully less than) 24

prankster: Good suggestions :) Got any advice as to the tools we might use?

There are many tools floating around that you can use. It's really up to you what you want to use and how comfortable you are with that tool.
So, we can begin from excel sheets, creating a Gantt Chart, or scorecards to do our job. You can find many templates to do this task.
Another tool worth mention is CreativePro Office. I have heard that it is free and easy to use. http://www[dot]creativeprooffice[dot]com/

I think you can also use the website planning tool from jumpstart. You can check it out at http://www[dot]jumpchart[dot]com/

    Regards,
    PK.

pranKster: Thanks for the tips on tools :) So far we've been relying on hand-written charts/diagrams/lists simply because that's what we're used to but we can totally give those a shot in the next little while. Once we get a feel for where to place expected projections those kinds of tools will totally come in handy so I'm glad you took the time and effort to point us towards them. It's a big internet out there and sometimes it's a pain trying to distinguish useful software tools from aggravating ad-ware, you know? :) We appreciate you chiming in!

bRainWithStorm: GOLDFISH is still in preparations to go live at this point so it's not built :)

    Day 13
    ---------

    May 11, 2009
    1:32am MST (Arizona)

First, I wanted to say that I accidentally mis-titled the days and that today is indeed Day 13 in case things got confusing. We got a good deal accomplished, first and foremost being another completed article on a somewhat tedious (but necessary) subject. We're thinking that we need about 25 articles (plus general site text and illustrations/photos) before we take GOLDFISH live. It's a ways to go but we're trying to show you the organic process involved from being struck with the idea 13 days ago right up until that eighth day of making $300/day finally arrives.

We've begun keyword research and are utilizing seobook.com along with Google's good old Keyword Research Tool. Nothing terribly fancy but they've worked for our first (and most profitable) site so we're not looking to re-invent the wheel. The main goal now is to keep our momentum going, move forward and not sweat details. Perfectionism is a bad disease and we don't want to get obsessed with making every decision flawless and take two days to make. If the articles aren't perfect I can always go back and edit.

Glittersoul put it this way, If you're trying to get good at a physical pursuit you don't take off trying to run three miles the first day or lift four hundred pounds, you do what you can each day until you're at that point. It gets difficult to remember all that, especially when you're trying to reach a goal as intense as $300/day in PPC revenue.

SO that's a wrap for today. You'll hear more in 24!

    Day 14

    May 12, 2009
    3:11am MST (Arizona)

A full two weeks in to this project and I have to say that today was both exhausting and incredibly productive. We have met a lot of different changes to our expectations so far, what with our initial budget getting sucked away for traffic school and all, but we're steamrolling forward anyhow. By the 1st of June we plan to take GOLDFISH live! We'll be purchasing 9 other domain names at that time, as well, thanks to the check from our first experimental site (a site that precedes this project and is mentioned in the first post of this thread). Then our plan is to auction that site (which makes over $100/month now) and use those earnings to really ramp up our expansion.

We've begun doing keyword research in earnest now, having developed a pretty slick little system that's showing us good niches. We may go into detail on it later. It's actually Glittersoul's homebrew method and it works better now that we have ink for our printer! Working with Notepad all the time sucks. Much easier to think on real paper with pen in hand, you know? We both spent several hours each on keyword research today. It seems to be paying off because we've got a few more solidly profitable niches for sites other than GOLDFISH now.

I also found writing articles to be not what I wanted to do today, so instead I went ahead and spent the time I'd spend writing on research. I've got a load of research done, enough for two more sizeable articles. I'm trying not to give in to irritation and slow down or stop working. I just research if I don't feel like writing and next time I do feel like writing I'll be able to easily because the research is already completed. Simple concept but often those have evaded me in the past. No longer :)

Well, very tired now so I'll give you another 'roar' in 24..

    har har ;-)

    Day 15

    May 13, 2009
    3:06am MST (Arizona)

Shaped up to be another strikingly productive day. Along with the article research I got done, Glittersoul really beat the digital pavement, as it were, doing keyword research. Since we now have a genuine functioning printer we can work through big lists and figure out what we're doing for projects beyond GOLDFISH. With the scope of this entire campaign to achieve 8 straight $300 days purely from PPC income, we have to keep our eye not only on the ball, but the whole backfield, as well. We've got a fairly good idea of what the other projects alongside GOLDFISH will now be. More details on that very soon. We also did some financial re-arranging and looks like we may go ahead and purchase a few domains with our latest Adsense earnings (since they're not required to keep the household afloat as we feared they might be) and we're going to post up the site we've got that's now pulling down over $100/month purely from PPC earnings. If anyone's interested in that, I can post a link to the auction here on DP once it's up.

It's three in the morning so I'm not feeling real talkative but as always we'll have more .... in about 24.

    Thanks for stopping in!
