My best friend and I are initiating a new project. We've been reading Digital Point, and I've been participating here, for a while now, but the time's come for us to achieve something bigger.

We've taken a $30 site and turned it into a site that's so far made 2,000% back on our investment. We're proud of that but it's not enough! In this thread we'll be showing our progress towards our new project's objective and then reporting on the results of our strategies as we employ them.

We're not yet ready to unveil the project's official title, but we'd like to share a little bit about what it is below. We're doing this now (April 28th, 2009) because this is our 3rd annual 'Best Friends Day', a holiday we made up. :) By posting this live we're hoping that we can share what we learn with the forum where we ourselves have learned so much and possibly even get a few of you to chime in if you decide to give this project your own spin.

Without further babbling from me, here's a bit about our project:

    -Primary Objectives-
Earn $300 per day in PPC advertising income (net) for 8 straight days
Document the entire journey in this thread

    -Our Strategy-
    Utilize only hand-written original content
No spamming or obnoxious, insincere promotional tactics
Tightly organized planning & implementation of each website in the project
Design sites that please people and are meant to retain their value for as long as possible

-Resources We Bring to the Project-
Minimal initial investment (budget to be disclosed shortly)
    Open source software
No sites (or links FROM sites) we owned prior to this project's launch
Web hosting we already use for other sites

Well, that's it for now. We hope that you'll follow along in this thread. and even pitch in if it interests you. We'll do our best to respond to comments/questions promptly.

Thank you for taking the time to view our thread. No preparation (besides strategizing) has been done for this project to increase the challenge factor keep our start date meaningful.

So, off to work we go... Expect an update within 24 hours.

    Hello,

Congratulations on your success. It's nice to hear about the success that you and your best friend accomplished. It inspired me to do better so that I can also attain the kind of success that you get. Maybe you can share it with me what you have done to have an income of 300 USD a day. I have been working hard to have an income like this. I have number of websites/blogs but my income stream is very slow. Maybe my strategy is not that effective.

Hello, benallos, thanks for chiming in! Actually we started this thread to show our progress towards our objective of $300/day - right now we are far below that mark since we just started today. :)

We've yet to post the results of our first day but I am typing that up right now so we'll be sharing that in a few hours. Our aim is to share what we're doing as we do it. We really appreciate your interest, though, and hope you'll get some good information in the coming days.

    Thanks again for joining us!

    Day 1
    ----------

    April 28th, 2009
    9:30pm MST (Arizona)

Ever heard the expression, "Expect the unexpected?"

Yeah, that sums up the very first day of this project. We got up early, intending to knock out quite a bit of work and we did get done what we'd intended to, but as with every adventure we also had some unusual things happen.

Firstly, on her way to a job interview, Glittersoul decided she'd waited long enough (eight minutes) at a red light. She decided to reverse course and due to the height of the side mirror on the '87 Dodge Ram Charger she was driving, she didn't notice the late model Lexus situated roughly six inches from her rear bumper.

Here's a couple shots of how that automotive love-tap ended up:

As you can see the Lexus was not badly damaged, though as expected the driver decided the authorities should be called in after Glittersoul explained she wasn't carrying the $200 in cash he wanted to 'fix the car himself'. The police issued Glittersoul her very own citation for 'Unsafe Backing' and we'll now get to dip into project funds to pay for her defensive driving courses. The Lexus driver, unfortunately, did not have insurance and was issued a ticket for that which will see him paying between $900 and $1,800! Not a happy day for either party and certainly nothing we prepared for.

After that shake up we continued our day. The Strategic Action Plan for this project went from brainstorming notes to a full first draft. The project website got its sections written out (we'll bring you that url once its unveiled, but you won't need to visit it to keep track of what all we're doing since we'll be publishing the salient points here in this thread). We set up an official project e-mail, decided on a niche for our first website, codenamed GOLDFISH.

Overall, the day was a LOT of writing and generally tedious but critical groundwork. Despite the budgetary setback of the car incident, we remain optimistic and ready to roll forward tomorrow.

It's difficult to pace ourselves this early in the game, but we're trying to.

Thanks for checking our thread! Expect another update within 24 hours...

PS - When Glittersoul called the job interviewer to let him know about the accident he told her there was no need to reschedule. Oh well!

    April 29th, 2009
    11:50pm MST (Arizona)

Today has involved massive research for GOLDFISH interspersed with quite a few interruptions. We figure that's par for the course. Glittersoul has signed up for sedo.com so we'll be able to auction off a couple of our older sites to raise capital for the current project. Since there's not much in the way of exciting news, we're going to keep this post short. Basically, we've got a lot of work to do researching for GOLDFISH and we'll be revealing more about that once we've got a solid idea of our approach on its topic.

Thank you for checking the thread and as always, expect another update within 24 hours!

PS - Thanks for joining in, Ascendancy! We look forward to seeing you around :)

    Day 3
    ----------
    May 1st, 2009
    1:20am MST (Arizona)

Another short post today, but not due to any lack of work. GOLDFISH is getting fleshed out and we're getting a much tighter idea of what we want from the project itself. When we are in the planning stages of a project like this, Glittersoul and I like to not just present the topic of the website, we want our sites to make sense for more than just a tight topic focus. It's
important to us that the theme is coherent, but also the style of the content itself. There's no reason to have a bunch of loosely organized articles when you can create a site where the surfers gently shift from one page to the next within the site driven by their own desire rather than a pleading to "CLICK HERE FOR MORE".

We're focusing ourselves on more intricate planning of the articles and topics instead of
unneccesary underdeveloped categories. We don't want GOLDFISH to merely exist within its niche, we want it to be a shining example of what that niche's audiences want to see. We won't be disclosing the exact niche we're going after, but right now we can tell you that it covers a world culture and the symbols that those people embrace.

Of course, we'll have more later - an update in around 24 hours...

P.S. - Thanks to all of you who've joined in on the thread! We know it's slow going right now. We could've waited until we already had the sites up and running, but we wanted to keep a public record of the realities of starting a project like this. It seems like it takes forever at the beginning, but once we've got the first selection of sites up and running, it'll be SUPER busy. We want to show you how we're building this from the ground up! :)

Today's been research, research, research while trying to keep GOLDFISH on target and focused. Following all these interesting trails away from the main topic is oh so tempting, but for now we must keep our sites trained on the essentials of the project. Not too much exciting to say today, so we're keeping it succinct. Decent progress today, nothing more. We carry on.

Expect an update within 24 hours!

PS - Thanks for joining us, GMC! :)

LOL!! There will be NO ebook, gsv13, don't worry!

We really don't like when people post the "watch me do it" threads and then try to sell you something at the end or get you to buy their services. This thread is only to hold ourselves accountable (in public) for our daily work on our project. We won't be offering any products or services (either our own or anyone else's) at the end of this project. We just hope it'll stand as proof that $300/day in PPC income *is* possible.

Thanks for bringing that point up, tho! I forgot to clarify that at the beginning!

    ----------

    May 2nd, 2009
    9:25pm MST (Arizona)

Research continues for project GOLDFISH. It's slow going at this point, but the first article for
that project is getting put together as I type. As with all projects, especially ones of this scope, working in teams (even if it's a pair) can be tricky. Glittersoul and I are still working
out our work rhythm in order to maximize our efficiency. Since we've both got significant others AND we share the same computer, we've got to stagger our work times and tasks carefully in order to get the most done. Right now we're assigning article topic research to Glittersoul while I write up the articles because our skillsets are strongest in those areas. I enjoy the article writing process so I should be able to consistently write up quality articles for the site. We're continuing to keep our focus tightly on the GOLDFISH topic (a world culture and its symbols) so that we don't waste time & energy on unnecessary articles.

We've also posted a couple of our older sites up for sale on sedo.com to see how selling through that site works. We'll be using the money raised from the sales of those two domains
(eyeofvenus.com and storycream.com) to fund project GOLDFISH. We'll keep you guys updated on those sales when they go through. Right now we're working on zero budget, but that's okay because we're not yet ready to purchase a domain for GOLDFISH.

That's all for today, but you can expect another update in about 24 hours!
