    Hi

Not sure if this is the correct section but here it goes.
I got a guy that wants to do a hardcoded link exchange between my site and two of his.
The site he wants to link to me has 300.000 indexed pages in google...

    My question is:
Will this hurt my site on serp's and PR?
I mean, all of the sudden google bot sees a link to my site in 300.000 pages.

Any input from the experts will be appreciated

    I would give this advice:

Only link to another website if it is relevant or it will benefit your users (basically the same thing). I would also avoid a site-wide link, if that's what you're planning.

Well the link will be only on the footer... its for PR basicly and not traffic.
What crossed my mind was the quesiton I did on the first post.
Will or not google bot "think" it weird all of the sudden see a link to my site in 300.000 pages.

Any way tks for your inputs guys

Google doesn't really like paid for links. If I were a googlebot and I suddenly saw an unrelated link in the footer of 300,000 pages, my first thought wouldn't be "that looks like a natural link".

Relevancy is what you need to worry about––if you get 300,000 footer links from a website that has nothing to do with yours you will probably suffer (at least that's been my experience over the last eight or nine months.)

Better to get just a few links from within the content that actually have something to do with your site's niche.

lol, that's not the point - Google doesn't like link trading - there is no such thing as a "natural link trade". that's just two people thinking they can fiddle with google results. A link trade should be nofollow attrib'd if it's not relevant.

I've given you the advice, take it if you want.

if it's not relevant, don't do it - or no follow it
    don't make it site wide.

and most importantly - will it benefit your users?
