Or maybe over a few days, not sure. But I have been watching my likes pretty closely because I was a few weeks away from crossing the 1000 likes threshold. A few days ago I was at 954, I believe. Today, I'm at 626. Wow! I've seen my likes drop before but that was never more than a few. This is unprecedented for me. I should note, also, that I've done nothing to promote likes. No advertising. No third party work. Nothing. I just have the like button on my site for the past year or so. Traffic is not down a lot, about 10%, which I attribute to the time of year. Has anyone else experienced this? I've read some stuff about Facebook dumping fake or fraudulent likes, but I can't imagine how my likes would be either of those since I've done nothing to promote liking my site. Help!!!
It might happen for two reasons.First the fans you received have very bad looking profile and inactive for months and those profiles have been deleted by recent Facebook algorithm update.The second reason is that FB update affected many good profiles too.
Thanks for the reply. I think your reasons could be true, but if they are then many other people should be seeing the same happen to them. I calculated the percent lost and it was more than one third. If this is a generic, across the board clean up then I would expect most everyone to see this happen. But I am not seeing recent reports. I see reports from September. Anyone else out there suddenly lose a large percent of your likes?
Facebook is recently killing/removing all the Dead/Spam?unverified/Fake profiles.. maybe that could be the issue.
