Okay I've finished working on my Fight Videos site. I'm looking to make it unique somehow something that no other sites have. I can't think of anything though that will make it unique. That's where you guys come in. All you have to do is post ideas to make it unique. You can post as many ideas as you want. If I like more then 1 then I will pay out more then 1 person. The idea can be a way to improve the site or new features on the site. I just want something that will keep users coming back and makes me stand out among the crowd. Thanks
* A forum is a nice addon. When visitors like the subject, they'll come back often. * A small arcade area where people can play some games and need to beat the highscore ... * A random video panel where it's automaticly plays a random movie * Make a Send to a friend button or something similar so you can attract more new visitors * Make your vote system like digg.com Maybe I got some more ideas ... what about member sign up button or popup to get sent the days/weeks best videos to your email. In a daily/weekly newsletter encourage users to pass the url to there friends (maybe have some sort of incentive) Let visitors vote for their favorite video and display the favorites as a top ten list (this could be also sent in to your members) These ideas will allow people to interact with the site to a degree and would go well with the forum idea posted.
I am aiming for "different" here, so ....... 1] "Make your own fight" section Users can send in their own fight video's that they themself took or have found and watch and review other's submissions. stupid or "light" fighting, in case of people doing their own video's. nothing violent though. Prizes for the three top videos that you choose once per month. 2] "Heated words" section Add a verbal abuse/verbal fighting and profanity video's section. Maybe post/make some yourself to get it started. Such as "wife confronts cheater husband" and so on. Do the same "submit your own" trick".There might be lot of submissions for this ! 3] Fight for right Add a donate to charity button !!!!!! with the above caption 4] Fighty music Put some fighty music/song playing option into the site or edit some of the video's and add fighty music as background noise while video is playing 5] Uncensored section - Put some of the more violent fight videos in there with adults only label. 6] Make your site "The complete fight site" - Add some fighting flash games and maybe some fighting flash game downloads/links 7] You could add other disaster videos in a "fight for survival" section. 8] A selection of funny lines used/useable when fighting 9] Celebrity fight section - Post some celebrity fighting video's and also users can send in their own visualisation of how a celebrity would fight, maybe a prize for the best submission ? Maybe create one or two yourselves to get started 10] Post some of the best selections on youtube and link to your site to increase traffic
A good way to increase return visits and time on site would be to create a system where the videos face off in virtual fights and people could watch both and vote on which one wins. The winner then moves up the bracket to face the winners of other fights until a champion is decided on. You could integrate sponsorships for the matchups, where ads are served for that particular fight. You could imply some sort of parallel with March Madness (because of the bracket system) and try to draw some long tail traffic from that big pool. Plus it jives with the theme of the site overall. What script are you using to run that site? There may be plugins already available to do that kind of thing.
A good way to get money is to make some sort of contest or way for the people to earn something from the site. The sites on the internet with the most hits per month are usually sites with monthly, or weekly contests, or sites like MetaCafe where users can work to earn money. Or just monthly give away say $10 by having people post a comment, be the top poster, be the top referrer, etc. There are many ways, but just basically, give something away.
