    this shall be

    1. motivation for others to step UP to dedicated server - managed or root - when ever you are progressive and love to get maximum out of your web publishing work
    2. my own experience with facts and exact numbers
    3. a request to share other - similar experiences you made when moving from shared hosting to dedicated server

a while ago 1and1.com complained about me having too much traffic and using too many resources and asked me to move to dedicated server.

hence i moved ASAP - but to another European based host end of last months and got a solid posotove surprise from the very first day of running my site on new IP after NS changes have been made.

30+ % percent sudden increase in genuine human traffic from all over the globe ( no particular indiviual source as origine for the traffic increase could be detected.

    no blacklist or filtering ?
most likely several factors all together

but the key is a 30+% traffic increase is more than worth the extra work and $ per months - of course also my adsense went up accordingly

may be some of you have made similar experiences and love to share
or some of you have some doubts about your current host and need some extra motivation to step UP from shared hosting to dedicated server

one of the (many possible ) sources for traffic increase was either incident/accident or BL of my guest countries ( PH ) largest national ISP who had repeatedly NO connection to my host- to my own IP nor to many other IPs from that host - no NS resolving in entire regions and no NS resolving nationwide every now and then for several hours up to a few days in a row
    BL or accident or ?
it finally doesn't matter and it is but a tiny contribution to the 30+ % increase in traffic

if you have made same experiences
may be you love to share host before and hsot after

but I also could imagine the opposite
someone moving from a good shared hosting to dedicated on WRONG host with WRONG IPs and losing traffic ...

for me it finally didn't matter to know exact cause
I consider it simply a Christmas gift ... may be there is one for you too ...

in past many years i fully invested in SEO and unique quality content to steadily increase my traffic ..
imagine how much work needed for a 30% increase
this time a 30+ % increase in no way related to SEO or any SE related factors but merely on host / IPs used ...

haven't ever heard of anything like this... probably your search engine rankings naturally grew in this time and you are attributing it to the dedi box.

    NO
my SE rankig is since years so top that it can hardly be improved since all of my major keywords either are in top 1-3 SERPS or at very least top 10.

i have done zero new posts or chapters during the weeks of preparing / moving
    to dedi server

    and

the increase occurred instantly - from one day to next day as I moved to dedi server

the very first hours ( about 2-3 hrs after switching NS to new IP ) i had an instant increase genuine in traffic on the new server while fo rmany days the traffic on old server continued.

the only reason why I publsih 2 one week periords a little apart was the simple reasonb that during almost one full weak my traffic was still split between old and new server and the 2 stats are incompatible for having different apacfhe log formats and thus can not be merged into one wihtout causing partially corrupt output.

there was zero SE change and NO SEO change
just a clean IP free of any filtering or BL on global level such as i could observe it here in my guest country PH.

for me too is is a unique experience never heard of
that's why it would be interesting to see if some other site owner have experienced same OR oppoisite.

of course someone moving from an excellent IP block to one such as my previous one - he wouild most likely experience a sudden DECREASE in traffic ... without knowing or guessing why

may be soem should give it a try

i planned alreadxy since years that "ONE" day I will go dedicated
    unsure if managed or root

the short notice 1and1 gave me left no choice but root

i am fully happy with my choice - never regretted it even a single second despite the additional workload specially at the beginning when i got a nearly naked machine to be remotely installed from some 10'000 km away

    i had some 7000+ visitors = 33414 pageview / day before and 10'000+ visitors = 47747 pageviews / day now

the last weeks before receiving the host's notice i planned alread to go end of year

now i am happy to have done it right away and also root was the perfect choice

sometimes in life wel all might need a little kick into our greater hapiness and success :)
