Hey guys, I'm looking for someone to design a header for my website, HotCajunRecipes.com . I will pay $30 via Paypal for the header. Here is the criteria: The header must have colors that work well with the site template I am using (see the site at http://www.hotcajunrecipes.com) The header must have a maximum width of 915 pixels The header must have the site name ('Hot Cajun Recipes.com')on it Additional information: The header can have the tag line 'Your best source for Cajun Cooking' The header could/should have images associated with Cajun cooking and Cajun culture. Some examples of these things are Louisiana, alligators, swamps, oak trees, crawfish, accordians, Mardi Gras, etc Crude idea: I wouldn't mind seeing a cartoon chef with an alligator or crawfish on his apron somehow incorporated with the images mentioned above. I am open to just about anything and will provide additional feedback as required. I will provide instant payment of $30 to the winner via Paypal. I would like the resulting image provided as a Photoshop or similar document so that I can edit it further if necessary. The contest ends in 72 hours. Thanks for looking ...
Thank you all for the submissions. Keep'em coming! Some comments on the header images received so far (note that this does not indicate any sort of endorsement or that I prefer other headers be modified in the exact same way): cj_ghost: I like what you're doing with the background but I don't like the way the text looks. The border needs to go as well as the highlight. JMP Designs: Nice color and font choice. The peppers are a nice touch but other/different elements are needed. I don't care much for reflections so they would need to be removed. dseer: I like the logo and font choice. I like the sun burst as well. I'm not overly fond of the background image. I don't like the reflection nor the highlight. Both should be removed. V99: Reminds me a lot of the 'Hell's Kitchen' TV Show logo. The text looks nice but other elements need to be added. It's a bit plain. Cameljourney: I like the use of the alligators and the text. I don't like the reflection. The background image needs improvement but I do like the way you colored it to match the site. The alligators/text should be enlarged. Black Sylver: I don't like the font choice, background image, or the way the tag line is presented. That said, the layout is not bad and may look good with different fonts and backgrounds. MindBlogger: I like the presentation and font choices but there's too much drop shadow on the text on the left. The picture portion is quite nice, but do you have rights to use that image? The contest continues on so any additional submissions will be considered. Thanks to all!
Thanks for your feedback. Here's my revised design. And yes, rights for the image through CC had been acquired. I've dropped you a PM on that. Cheers!
Yes you still have time to enter. The contest will end 48 hours after the original post time. I will comment on the additional designs shortly. Keep'em coming!
Aalto: V1 is a bit too simple. More elements are needed. V2 is a lot better. I really like the use of the boiled crawfish. I know it wasn't in the requirements, but I think using the entire banner space is preferred. MindBlogger: Thanks for using my suggestions. It looks really nice. You still have time to submit an additional banner if you'd like. Cameljourney: Thanks for using my suggestions. It looks really nice also. I'm not altogether fond of the image you used on the right side. Perhaps you could incorporate a bunch of boiled crawfish there? You should be able to find tons of images using google image search. You still have time to submit an additional banner if you'd like. mangobyte: I _really_ like the alligator with chef's hate. Unfortunately I don't care for the font you used for the site name and the images on the right side. This one could be a contender with a bit of tweaking. Thanks again to all who have entered. There's still time for more.
dinki, I wish more contest holders were like you. Fantastic job giving so much feedback Another shot:
