I'm looking for a recognizable, professional favicon for inStash (dotcom). There are no guidelines. Use your creativity, and what you feel works best to represent the brand, while still being viewable at such a small size. Logo found here: http://www.i7omedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/instash.com_.zip Contest ends in 48 hours. I reserve the right to end the contest without a winner if there are no quality submissions.
Here's my try, please tell me if you'd like anything changed (transparent version) Feedback is appreciated
Everybody is just posting the same stuff. He said use your creativity! Given it's difficult to be creative with 256 pixels, but surely he is able to copy his own logo and shrink it down to 16px!
What better way to represent the brand than using their logo? Whats the point in using another image/font/design when they are recognised for their logo, which is very brandable. It'd be like using a football boot instead of the Swoosh logo for Nike.. kind of pointless in my opinion.
Hmm I agree tho adam has a point, We could've been more creative in the design like adam did with his money bag reffering to Stash in inStash.com. Altought I gotta say that the money bag more looks like a tie to me (I think it would look more like a money bag if it was just a bit wider)
Of course its easy to say though, but its virtually impossible to create anything at all creative with a 16x16 canvas, and some how still keep it recognisable to inStash.com. Some may say all it involves is resizing the current logo, but if they tried that they would soon find out its not as easy as that, because resizing it that small makes it blurry, distorted, and way too skinny. So time still has gone into creating these favicons, we've just chosen not to re-brand the business with a random image/design. I do agree that most competitions should encourage creativity, I just don't feel like this competition leaves much to the imagination.
To give a bit of feedback, yes I would like some part of the logo to be used. However, there needs to be some sort of creativity involved, because as +dd mentioned, simply resizing the original logo will not produce a quality favicon. Google's own favicon is a good example of using the concept of their logo to produce a unique favicon. With that said, there's already an entry that I like, so this contest is now guaranteed.
