Hello contest designers of DP! I'm looking to get a cover designed for an upcoming book I'm writing. Title of Book: Growth Hacking for Freelancers Subtitle: How to Find New Leads, Get More Work, and Grow Your Client Base Target Audience: Freelancers, designers, developers, photographers, illustrators, writers, creatives, etc. Industry: Freelancing/Internet/Business Colors: #45b092, #FFFFFF, #2a2e37, #efefef (the four above colors are optional; however I'd prefer if you stick to that scheme or something similar, with #45b092 as the background) Style: Below is the type of style I'm aiming for: Notes: -Big and bolded titles -Good use of colors -Simple and non-crowded Fonts: Please use clean and easy-to-read type fonts only. Delivery: Vector file (Photoshop / Illustrator), different rasterized versions (light / dark bg, etc.) and preferably font included (if possible) Deadline: This contest will end Tuesday, August 25th @ 2:00PM EST. I will do my best and provide feedback for most entries. The winner will receive $30 USD via PayPal. If there is a 2nd-place entry I really like, they will receive $15 USD for their entry. Good luck everyone!
Thanks for the entry. Unfortunately, this cover design doesn't really stand out or 'wow' me as attractive. I think it'd look better if the text content was white, instead of the beige/cream color you're using. Also, some of the positioning of elements and spacing needs work. See my examples for reference. Feel free to submit another entry though!
Pretty good! The one on the right is better, IMO. There should be a place where I can put the author's name though (usually a footer at the bottom). Also, I'm not sure if the 'eye' stock photo is relevant. Perhaps try a couple other variants/images in place instead of it? Maybe a computer, freelancing tools, or creative tools (computer, camera, brush, pens/pencil) that are more relevant to freelancing.
I'm not really feeling the fonts here. Could you try using SANS-SERIF type fonts instead? Also, not sure if white is a really good background color. Maybe reverse the colors? Use the green as the background; white as the text. Can we try using a different image? The whole 'people-magnet' idea just looks a bit odd- as if they are little ants. I'd say the overall design is a bit too plain- maybe add in some background effects to spruce things up. Feel free to submit another entry!
Thanks for making revisions. Not really a fan of the black background. Also, it still looks a bit plain. Could you try adding some color in a few places? Maybe a bar at the top/bottom, etc. 1st one: Not really a fan of the image. Let's try that with something else. Also, could you make some changes to the title & subtitle? They're all using the same font and style right now. I think it'd look better if there was some variance. 2nd one: I would say this is the stronger one of your other two entries. I don't like the author name being in the bottom left area. How about making the images smaller, and adding an author footer bar area instead? Also, 'for freelancers' font would be difficult to read from afar. Can you change that to something that'd be more visible? 3rd one: Looks a bit too crowded. Also, the images don't work well with all them being scrambled together like that. Can you use one main, central image?
I like the unique approach you took with this one. The title looks a bit weird though- I see you're trying to resemble an 'F' here, but it isn't really obvious unless you stare down hard at it. Can you re-work the title and change some things around? Thanks.
Nice! I like this. It's clean, simple, and the text is big, bold, and easy to read from afar. I will think of some changes soon.
