30 day penalty

I have a website that is quite old and used to be number 1 and in the top 10 for all relevant keywords. Recently we were given what looks like the 30 day penalty. We fixed any problems and adhered to google's webmaster rules however we are still not back in the top 10, our page rank has not been affected, still 6 out of 10 and we have good backlinks. Any suggestions on what might be the problem?

If it was the "30 day penalty" then you will have to wait 30 days before the site is back into its old positions. ;)

I'm not sure what you mean by 30 day penalty either though.

    Where do you rank now?

I'm not sure what you mean by the 30 day penalty. I read about it from a Google staff but I dont remember. Heres something someone experienced to get there 30 day penalty:

I have just received an email from Google about one of my test sites telling me that it is being blacklisted for 30 days.

the site in question uses doorway pages with JavaScript redirects to the home page.

It is the JavaScript redirects that have fallen foul of the algo. Google have sent me a link to the quality guidelines and also sent me a link for re-inclusion.

All in all, I think this is a good thing. Sites banned for use of cowboy tactics, which I agree that doorway pages are, will now be told why they are on penalty and how to get out of it.

I'll post again later to let you know how the re-inclusion goes.

I think this is a load... Unless you worked in Mountain View with G I would suspect that you don't know how long a penalty is for.... So I wish you luck on your 30 days.

I wonder if you really fixed what was wrong or just checked out if anything was. Is there such thing as a month's worth of penalty? I guess once you apply for reinclusion to Google's index, they don't need to wait for thirty days.
