I need an oversized banner for a forum I just bought. It's Age of Empires Forum. I have a few pointers for the banner, but want to leave mostly to your creative energies. The banner is an oversized banner, 775 x 80 or so. Can be taller if you need. I think a darker background will work nicely with this one. It should clearly say Age of Empires Forum somewhere on the banner, gold or white text would look nice. Use some images from the game to make it nice but not overcrowded and obvious what the banner represents. I'll hold the contest open for 72 hours. I reserve the right to close it early if I get a submission that is perfect, so please post if you're going to work on something so I'll know to wait for you or I'll pm you before closing.
BTW, don't base your entry off the design that's on the forum now. That's a free phpbb template and I'm going to get rid of that in a couple days.

Right now, I'm liking an entry that coolwanz sent me by pm. http://www.coolwanz.com/2007/zageofempiresforum/ I'm going to post the url to it because I think it's only fair that everyone sees all the competition. ktutorials, I like yours second best, but two things, I don't like the font you're using as much and the photo of the guy in the middle with the head dress doesn't seem to blend as well. Proficient, thanks for the entry but it's not really what I'm going for, I don't like the font and overall it's too plain and the image doesn't really speak 'Age of Empires' to me. Power Slave, this could be good, but I think the greenish pattern you've overlayed makes it look too washed out. A better font with the lettering in gold might work with it, though, and make better use of the left third of the banner. Thanks again everybody!
Yes, I wasn't announcing a winner, just providing feedback on the entries. I thought it would be helpful for everyone for me to say in public what I thought of the entries so far.
coolwanz, nice design. No offence bro, my suggestion - please post your entry into the thread. Sending pm to every contest holder without contributing anything into thread is not fair to other designers. Good luck

Thank you man. From my personal point of view, you are a great, honest and smart webmaster. Without knowing those images, other designer will stop their entry if they have confident to win. As a result, the quality of submittion will be low. I believe the situation will be different now. Everyone will try to submit something where i believe will "beat" coolwanz's design.
