    :)Hi All,

And thanks in advance for anyhelp you can give me on this matter.

I have been bloging now for around about 3 years, and its not done so I can place adverts on my site, I use it to promote a business of mine. I also do the blog more as a record of what is happening in my business, and what is happening in the business world that it is linked too.

I also must admit its very adictive, and it gets traffic, lots of it. Of this I am very happy about. Strangely though it used to be a PR of 3, today I notice it is now a 1, went to a 2 about 6 months ago. Help???

I have never tried to build back links or anything, I have just kind of blogged for the last 3 years and it has worked.

Any idea how I can increase my PR should I try to get back links? Is PR actually important to me if I am getting traffic anyway?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Just typed all that and I cant post a link for until I have ten posts and been a member for the next seven days, so any basic advice will be good until I can post a link.

addition: All content is unique and blog is updated normally 2-3 times per day.

Most posts are lenghty, however they are more my thoughts, than actual articles. I do have a few people who link to them. Most posts are not linked back too.

I dont never ever have done.

Any links I have got, are if people find a post and like it.

Honest. I am actually new to the world of Webmastering, I just blogged.

Was so chuffed when a techy friend said it was a PR3, but its gone down and down. However the actual traffic from search engines is increasing slightly. I put this down to the unque content I put on, and the amount of times I do it.

Is PR actually that important? The only posts I can find say its important if you want to sell links?

Back links should they be from other related sites?

I wont say pr isn't important, it does have its place, and as its a fairly established and still used it should not be ignore but more importantly you are getting traffic, and increasing traffic which is ideal and what you want.

Yes a link buyer will often be interested in the sites pr.

You can submit to free web directories or comment on some related blogs and it will probably raise your pr again.

You sound like your doing the best thing though, unique content and updating often is good.

Yes I cant complain, so its a case of commenting on other related blogs, and these free directories? I guess I just google for free directories or something to find them? What about articles, reading on this forum I here its good to do that too?

I am hoping to launch another blog, unrelated to what I talk about now, and I would like to do this one correct, so all info is good.

Should blogs, have links off them to other sites? And if so how many, as one thing my existing blog has is a lot of links to other domain names that I own, these sites dont link back will this effect it?

PS In your signature its says $70 to have a link? Do people benefit from forum links in signatures?

    Sorry for all the questions

Heres a very large list of free directories to submit to http://www.vmoptions.com/directory-list.php i use it daily and it gets updated daily, be sure to vary your submission titles and descriptions from time to time.

Search on http://blogsearch.google.com/ to find related blogs to comment on.

Yes articles are often recommended by many and usually with decent results.

If you are linking to lots of unrelated sites its not so good.

Are the domains actual sites or just parked pages maybe?

Yes forum signatures can provide backlinks but more so traffic, it generally makes sense though to have it in a forum related to your niche if you can.

If your blogging about mobiles for example then better with links in sigs in mobile/cellular related forums.

Links point to actual sites not parked pages. In total there is 3-4 different domains promoted, will this effect it?

Thanks for all your help so far, spending ages on this forum tonight, learning loads wish I had found it earlier.

PR is not important to you unless you plan to sell advertising space or the blog itself. Traffic is all that matters and so long as the decrease in PR rank hasn't affected it, I wouldn't spend much time trying to gain it back.

thanks for that, I kinda agree traffic is the main thingy.

Would be nice to have a PR of 5 though, just so I can say I have it.

I guess if I had a PR3 before without really doing anything, thats all that matters. And who knows it may well come back.

Out of interest (and I am in no way interested in selling advertising or anything) but it gets between 1200-1400 unique visitors a day is this good or bad? And what kind of money would I get for space on a site with that kind of traffic?

If your site is getting traffic, why are you worried about PR?

PR does NOT equal traffic at all. I would not spend one second worrying about PR if you are getting over 1k visitors a day!

While pr can have importance, its existence does make sense, but an element of it is a vanity thing too, i personally dont ignore it but more important is relevant traffic and your visitors doing what you want them to do, that may be purchasing, following an ad, signing up, subscribing etc

Okay, so if I get this correct PR is mainly if your looking to sell on advertising space, and its also a bit about being able to show off and say hey I am a PR5 etc.

Thats okay then means I dont need to worry too much about it at the moment, I may try though to build a few back links.

    Thanks all for the advice.

When I first blogged, PR really bugged me, and it still kind of does. When I need a higher PR for survey opportunities, it makes me mad. Back links is the answer. Good luck!

If you stop posting regularly, then PR gets decreased. How ever, PR depends on Domain Age but still posting the fresh content is the main key for this lock !

Backlinks can factor the drop in PR. PR of pages with backlinks can change or the backlinks may no longer be there. PR 1 is quite low for a blog that is updated several times a day.

What do you mean by domain age?

    The older owned the better?
