Offering 3 prizes of $5 each through paypal - 1 each per person. Contest closes : Sunday November 12 2006, 1159 p.m GMT I'm looking for ways to increase traffic to 3 specific webpages, urls are here below. Already submitted to digg, technorati tags added. I'm looking for suggestions / help that will be effective in increasing unique hits to these 3 pages. http://www.profy.com/2006/11/02/excavating-the-foundation/ http://www.profy.com/2006/11/03/chasing-the-long-tail/ http://www.profy.com/2006/11/05/the-value-of-experience/ Check these out, and then post your ideas here - or if you've done something like blogging about it, etc., add that in. NO SPAMMING please. Your suggestion can be specific to a particular page, or applicable to all 3. I'll choose the 3 most helpful posts (if there are only 3 members who post, then 3 prizes assured!) Multiple posts ok if you need to, but remember that I'll take all the posts by a particular member together to be one single entry for this contest. Thanks and best wishes.
You should try using pinging services like Ping-O-Matic and pingtheempire.com. Also fill up the posts with keywords that you want to be searched for the posts. Should have no problems after that. - MENJ
Hey, thanks for participating. Wordpress already auto pings - and the objective is to get traffic to the posts as is, not changing the text (keywords). Any other suggestions to improve this?
Alright, I don't know how well this feedback is, but the largest problem I am having with all of these articles are the sense that I don't understand what you are talking about. I know you are referencing to other blogs, but a lot of times when new members visit a blog, and read the latest entries, they don't like to back track right away, and in most cases, they might read on thinking they can understand it in context. Try to recap some of the information prior to referencing, basically having your opening paragraph relate to the first blog. The easiest read was The Value of Experience since it wasn't really based on any prior articles. I like how you have the sections, but why try and cram the subtitles next to the content? Give a line break after the subtitles, and try to indent and justify your paragraphs so it is all in line and not so jumbled. I feel my eyes began to wander to the different lines. Consistency is the key, try to make all your articles the same. Meaning if you capitalize "Chasing the Long Tail" as such, why not have "Excavating the Foundation" as such? Incorporating keywords based around the article topic may help your readers know what they will be reading about. "Chasing the Long Tail" could be an article about a dog for all you know. Perhaps the title "The Long Tail of Transactions" would be more appropriate or something more relative to the content and not your own jargon. Again, I don't know how this input relates to what you wanted to know, but I visited the site, and thought any input would be helpful.
1. Modify your link title tags so the keywords come first and reads "Chasing the long tail link" instead of "Permanent link to Chasing the long tail" 2. Add title links to the links within the articles. 3. I don't see any meaningful meta tags. 4. Submit your site to StumbleUpon for it's related topics. 5. You need a longer list of "last post" so Google, Yahoo and MSN can see more of your pages. Maybe even make them static links instead of PHP or whatever generated links. 6. Clean up the right side - it's a little cluttered. Easier to navigate = more fun = more backlinks = more visitors. Those are my thoughts.
Mike, Noobie Thanks for your updates. The blog design (template) and meta tags are not something I can change unilaterally, since this is a group blog administered by someone else - I'll pass on the suggestions, see if these can be implemented. I really like the suggestions you've provided that relate to the content itself - that's something I can work on, make it more readable and meaningful.
Okay, I had good experience with doing SEO to wordpress and Therefore, I will write an article for you. 1. http://www.dagondesign.com/articles/sitemap-generator-plugin-for-wordpress/. Sitemap is a efficient way to get your site reported to search engines that it had been updated. 2. Write keyword rich and descriptive post titles.Think about the keywords or phrases people might type into a search box to find your post 2 months from now. 3. Use the related posts plugin, it creates a dense link structure and might help achieving a higher rank for the post in google. http://www.w-a-s-a-b-i.com/archives/2004/05/26/wordpress-related-entries-plugin/ 4.Autometa plugin : http://boakes.org/autometa/ Autometa plugins add keyword tags and technorati tags automatically for each blog title according to the blog post. 5. Update your permalinks as it had helped me in the past. It can be found in wordpress options -> Permalinks settings. Change them to make your post links directly to your domain for e.g http://www.yourdomain.com/anarticle http://www.yourdomain.com/category/fishing Regards, Muhammad Haris
