Submitted and was listed within three weeks,
astonished by this after reading so many DMOZ is dead threads.
Just goes to show a little research, pick the right category and cross your fingers.

    Go regional, if it allows.
The idea being that even if widgets are too boring to edit,, somone will always edit a town or region

Actually it seems you submitted to a category which was a bit smaller that also had an active Editor. Congratulations though.

I'm inclined to believe in this theory.

I also submitted a few sites, but never got submitted. About three weeks ago I listed a new site. Less than 2 weeks the new one got approved and listed.

I think it also depends much on the different people working in the different categories.

My personal opinion is that Dmoz should get new people every X-months to ensure continuous work.

    Is it so easy? :)
I saw many projects in which people are ready to pay nice money to get listed to Dmoz.
    BTW Congratulations to you.

Problem is United Nations bureaucracy is model of efficiency compared to DMOZ it would take 180 degree turn for DMOZ to get back on the right path but none of this can happen since there are too few persons inside DMOZ who care enough about it to make a difference. :(
