Yes, my traffic has not increased after taking my site to #3 on Google.com for a competitive KW. In fact the traffic was not lower than this in anyway earlier too. As of now, 2 of my prime keywords rank on page1 and one out of that is on #3. There are several other keywords for which I rank either on the first page or second page. Still, there is no increase in in traffic whatsoever from what it used to be earlier. Both the KWs receive around 100,000 searches per month on Google and there is no declining trend as well, to top it. I am really at loss to come out with a credible reason for this. What could be the reason?
Did you use the Adwords keyword tool to find out the keyword searches? If so, then you should use "Exact" Match type instead of the default "Broad". If that's not the case, then i really don't know what could be the cause of that.
Of course I use both because of the occasional disproportional variation. Nevertheless, I don't think this could be a possible reason as general searchers at large cannot be expected to do the "Exact Search". I am beginning to guess that the figures available at Adwords keyword tool are the sum total of results for all the engines in its network, for all countries and if this is the case, the SERP should change once we change our geo targeting. Any thoughts? Let me try this out.
Start Blog Submission, Press Release and Paid Link and Banner Ads, Link Exchange Good PR Site. Then Your Site Traffic Will be increase. Insa Allah.
Come on, alivetears, you don't reach rank 3 without doing any or all of those. I am looking to analyze critically the reasons that could be there for not receiving enough traffic a #3 site should get naturally. Further more, I am not raising the issue of paid traffic but traffic from Google alone. It could be because of wrong choice for geo targeting which I have changed just now. It could also be because of presuming the AdWords KW tool figures, which are global, as applicable to my target market. Next couple of days should tell what it is, I am keeping my fingers crossed for the moment.
some times when you rank high for some competative keywords then there is strong possibility that you get down in long trail keywords. So on whole there is not much traffic increase but the traffic get more targeted
I think you have to wait for few more weeks to see the outcome. It will take some more time to get into
Is the keyword searched more by people from a particular country? By that, I mean people who don't use google.com- using google.com.au, google.co.nz, etc. If yes, where are you ranking in the local results?
Now I think yes, this could be a possible reason; as I said I was targeting (which I changed a few hours ago) US mainly while the KW seems to be searched more elsewhere. Edit: As Cathy said, it might take some time to fall into place and I hope to retain that position till then. Being intrigued, I checked up the KW in Google trends to see which top 5 countries search my prime keywords and surprisingly Canada and USA were at 4th and 5th place and Philippines and India were at #1 and #2. Nevertheless, my site ranked within 5th everywhere to reinstate that it takes time.
