Waste of time and money. Google actually penalizes for having a lot of spam backlinks. I think the penalty came about when they introduced the disavow tool.
If you are doing link building then you have to use various source of link building, using only one method of link building (social networking) wouldn't help a lot.
They might decide that they don't like infographics soon, so I would not spend to much money on building links that way.
I disagree - I think infographics is a great way to build traffic and get backlinks. Plus there are automated software packages that will submit you URL to many different sites. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words!
I like that idea with the infographics. I thought of that myself, only that I'm busy with so many projects at the time. Eventually I will jump into doing infographics-advertising as well.
