I will not go for the directory idea, and one more thing. remember links are between pages not websites, you can build hundreds of pages with your links on, but if you don't build some links to those pages also, the PR of the pages will be 0 forever. A PR1 back link = 8*8 PR0 back links PR2 = 8*8 PR1 or 8*8*8 PR0
My argument is that I would rather submit and concentrate just on quality links and not just *any* link. My focus is definitely on article directory submission.
they work if you apply them correctly and with patience and perseverance as said by the the post starter.
There were times when directories were considered to be very useful repositories for accessing and tracing out multiple websites which suit your niche and your need. But, now a days, creating directories is just at click of a button to set up a full fledged directory serving the input forms to submit websites. No use really serving to directories anyway.
Getting backlinks from directories is not at all bad SEO. IF you know that the directory keeps quality links and is not spamming links in anyway. I wanted to clear this bcoz alot of the members here on DP think that it is (no matter what). Yahoo runs a directory ... doesn't it ? its not being penalized for it ... Its not just that they're too big. Even if they are it doesn't gives them a license to do something which is considered as bad SEO. Alot of these bad SEO techniques are the ones which actually work and people just don't want you to know them. So keep your thinking straight and don't believe in what others are saying with your eyes closed.
Seems to be a very shortlived list of 'killer techniques' - all I get when I go to the site (endthebull.com) is a GoDaddy parking page? "NOTICE: This domain name expired on 03/05/2009 and is pending renewal or deletion"

I strongly disagree with this methods. Automated link building will REALLY KILL your link building strategy.
