Hello Digital Pointers! First, I want to thank everyone for giving positive input from my previous post, and I'm sorry if I was not able to reach everyone. I will try to do some more posting in the future. I know that there are tons of people who are interested in making money (especially on Adsense). Congratulations! I still think it's awesome to generate some side cash, and Google Adsense has been great so far. Since there were some interesting and challenging questions about this topic, I would like to stress little bit more about Generating Your First Niche Site and Revenue. Creating your first niche site can be very painful, but exciting. Hopefully, this can relieve some stress. Previously, I have share briefly about how I built my experimental “how to get rid of pimple†niche site and hit multiple keywords on 1st page Google. If you have not read the previous posting, you can find it here. 3 IMPORTANT POINTS FOR BEGINNERS After learning how to monetize niche sites, I have realized that this topic is still too complicated. So, I decided to condense everything down to 3 IMPORTANT POINTS to generate revenue with AdSense. If you are able to master these three points, sky is the limit for you. Here is an example of one of my AdSense sites. It's a side money to buy some In-N-Out for my family. POINT A: GET ON 1ST PAGE GOOGLE WITH YOUR RICH KEYWORDS Let’s wipe out everything that you know about earning money online. That’s not that important right now. Also, forget about building your websites. Building website is too easy. Can you imagine building a product that nobody wants? You are pouring all your energy in to empty promise. This doesn’t really require business background to understand this point. No demand = No money. It’s a common sense. Likewise, most people fail online businesses due to lack of research. Finding what people want is the hardest part. Step 1: Analyze people’s demand Step 2: Analyze your competitors (first 5 sites that are on 1st page Google) Step 3: Beat your competitors That’s it. Just make sure that these keywords are being searched on Google. All keywords (eg. how to stop snoring, how to put makeup, etc..) have their own $$ money value. There are literally more than millions of keywords that are currently not been used. Meaning, not enough people are doing it. POINT B: BUILD WEBSITE / QUALITY CONTENT After finding your Niche Keywords, now it’s time to test those keywords. Most sites can be built with WP or TUMBLR… If you have no idea what these are, no need to sweat. This only takes less than 30 minutes to build. Just make sure to master POINT A. There is no point of learning POINT B without understanding POINT A. Step 1: Test the water Instead of writing hundreds of articles (quality content), I usually just start off with 10 unique articles all at once. If you see something happening, start adding more content. Step 2: Build backllinks (Using anchor text) After writing each article, learn how to spin your single article in to ten different articles. Thanks to technology, there is a great tool that you can use to spin your original article. After spinning these articles, start syndicating them to different article sites. Sounds too complicated? Trust me. It takes no longer than 30 ~ 60 minutes. Step 3: Outsource writers (optional) I don't usually write my own articles. It's way too time consuming to build content and build backlinks. I know that writers might sound little too expensive. Did you know that you can hire a writers to write one quality article (450 words) for $5? Remember, it’s all about working smart. You don’t have to hire a professional writers to build your content. You can simply outsource them on Craigslist and other service websites. This is how I did it. I can easily outsource my writers on Craigslist by choosing different country. Philippines: http://manila.tl.craigslist.com.ph/ IMPORTANT TIP: Don't bank on "hit and miss" when creating articles. Meaning, don't build random articles. I usually make sure that all articles (all 10+ articles) contain money keywords. Make sure to get these research done in Point A. Goal: Primary keyword + subkeywords (related) Here is a quick example of how I setup my experimental site (howtogetridofpimple.com). Of course, this is just a quick setup for demonstration purposes, but even this quick setup took me less than 30 mintues. It's very doable. At the bottom, you will notice the red square. This represents there is no point of going after this keyword. Remember, the idea is to have every single pages meaningful with high pay out CPC. I hope this makes sense. POINT A and B SUMMARY: 1. Find primary keywords and related keywords This should be done by you Time: 30 minutes ~ 3 days Expense: $0.00 2. Outsource Articles to Build 10 unique articles per site. Time: 1 day Expense: $50.00 per site POINT C: MONETIZATION After POINT A and B, you need to start planning some strategic plan for monetization. Point C can be stressed in to whole different posting. It's a different ball game. I will expand this topic little more later on, but for now, just know that this part is an exciting part. Why? Because you have passed Point A (finding the right keyword) and Point B (launched the site). You will only worry about Point C when visitors start coming in. Point C will be useless without any traffic. Q: How much traffic do I need to start my AdSense? A: Well, you can start from the day one, but don't expect anything out of it. Instead of spending your time trying to figure out where to place your ads, just focus on traffic and focus on other niche sites. Just let it run and see how Google responds to your new niche site. Let say that you are placed on 1st page Google (or slowly getting there). This is the time I would actually start investing. Tip: Don't be afraid to just move on. No traffic, just move on. Common Error 1: Believe it or not, most people jump right in to POINT B without getting POINT A down. Common Error 2: Don't burn yourself out. Take some break. Have fun. Working more doesn't mean that you will succeed at the end. I would encourage everyone to have enough rest, and circulate ideas. Talk to DP community. Talk to your Grandma. Talk to me. Talk to your friends. Talk to people in Russia. You know what I mean. Little About Me (OPTIONAL): I love to architect my residual income blueprint. Things I Like to Do: - Building niche sites - Building android app - Syndicating videos (syndication) - Building online products - Consulting companies - Programming - Reading - Spending time with my kids (The Best!) - Going on a date with my beautiful wife I hope that this was helpful. The game is still on. Let me know if you guys have any questions. I'll do my best to share some insights. Cheers!! Jino
Although I wouldn't personally use a lot of the methods you described, it is a well written and thoughtful note. I am sure many will find value in it. Thanks for sharing it!
I will post little bit about 'WHAT NOT TO DO' in my next post. this should be pretty interesting. I have spent some good amount of cash ($1k+) on making mistakes, and I wish that people could avoid these issues later on. The funny thing is, people are still making the same mistake over and over again. This is not a bad thing, of course, if you have a steady cash flow coming in (eg. 9-5 work, freelance, etc..). But for some people, even $100.00 is a lot. So, stay tune for more updates. It's cool if you are not interested. If you are interested, please give me some feedback so I can better answer your questions. Thanks. Jino
Informative post indeed. Really good for starters. But it would be worthwhile if you had put SEARCH VALUE per month, Competition analysis of top 10 sites competing for particular keyword, keywords choosing criteria (keywords research-- how much search in exact match in local searches to target for new site), keywords value ( is the chosen keyword will make any money in future?), Strength of Competition. Another factor after being indexed in 1st page is sandboxing. One of my site is 1 yr old, for my targeted keyword, it is in 4th position but still its having google dance. 15 days it blinks in the position and another 15 it disappears like it doesn't exist. In onpage and Offpage, it beats almost competitors but don't know why google is doing this. As u mentioned all the articles are keywords optimized ( keywords density less than 5%) and i have done well keywords research for every page before posting ( i use market samurai). So, this factor also can't be ignored and definitely its not easy as it seems and sounds.....Anyway, hope to hear more from you
thanks for sharing. its simply awesome. i think you have told the perfect steps and suggested the good ways to get a handsome money for a long time. thanks again
