3% CTR is Low. With Huge traffic try your Add placement to incerease the CTR to 5% and you will End up with Huge DOLLARS

It depends when kind of site it is. Think about somewhere like Digital Point - the CTR will be something like 0.2% at best.

But he is talking about a site not forum or blog. Usually on sites ctr is higher. High ctr is 10 % but 3% is not high ctr. It's lower than my average ctr.

YES 3% CTR is a big problem for you

    3% is FAR too low
double or triple your CTR and you know that you have all adsense optimized
right now you can safely assume to have ALL FULLY DE-optimized ....

You should not care about the ctr if you are not doing anything against the Adsense Tos , success can not b punished.
And also %3 far from being high.

    AS EXAMPLE: every day average of 3% on 1000 impressions x good PPC around $1,50 makes 45 x 30 days equals = 1350 monthly = 16200 USD...
So 3% is owkee, certainly not extremely high, but it all depends on the combi impressions and PPC.

No problems with many impressions and low CTR with high PPC...

    but in your case:

120000 x 3% = 3600 x 0,25 (low/average) = 900 /day= 27000/month = 324000 USD /year!!! Nice! even if it is 50% of this... Great job. Did google didn't assigned an official accountmanager for your site.. from a certain amount of income they do. They help you to improve your business so Google and you both benefit from it. no mistakes... i don't have a personal AM at google... unfortunately! :)

Thanks everybody...I have been away for the last few days but I can post replies often now

We are monitoring our site very closely making sure that there is no invalid clicks going on and if there is any, we will notify google right way. So I am not worried about that bit. However with regards to ads placement, we have been contacted by Google to make some changes to distinguish the ads with the content, because it ws quite confusing. After implementing the changes, we experiment a slight drop in CTR to 2.7% on average now. So I guess it is quite low according to some of you guys standards.

As per example that rwin2007 put forwards, I reveal it now. We are not getting very good pay for each click, only around 8cent. Therefore with 120,000 impression per day, we are only getting around 280$ which I know would surprise alot of you. We now been looking deeply into CPM network and TribalFusion is one of the options that we might try (accepted by them last week btw). I looked at Adsense policy, it says that Adsense does not allow any other ads which look similar to adsense format so I guess it should be fine to put Adsense and TribalFusion on the same page as long as their formats are different. Right?

It is not like 3% CTR is to high or not, but the most important is the way how do you reach it. If you don't anything to mislead your visitors or use other black hat techniques, so you don't have any reason to worry, even if you have 30% CTR.

I really really wish I was getting $280 a day!

Just out of interest what is your site? I am always researching on how to improve my visitors. I preffer to bring in organic traffic, with the ultimate goal of doing nothing but sit back and let the money flow in. Probably a pipe dream I know, but my most recent site has gone form 0 - 200 visitors per day in 16 days so i am not doing too badly on this one :D

I would be very (VERY) careful placing your site URL... (i mean: I strongly suggest not to place your link in this thread).

The google TOS disallow you communicating in public about your absolute adsense earnings in combination with your website (URL).

Although I am also very curious :) But for ThisIsOli: More than enough reading stuff here on DP how to increase traffice, income, CTR and much more SEO/SEM related topics. --> But if give you a little headstart.... Content! Content and High Quality content.

I hope it's ok because mine is running about 2.7% and it wouldn't be good for 3% to be considered too high and get banned. Anybody know what the "optimum" ctr would be?

While a 3% CTR is not bad, it's not that high actually.
Google won't ban you even if your CTR is 100% if the clicks are genuine ;)

    Seems ok.

Big thing is to make sure that the clicks are valid.
