I was thinking about getting a 3 character .ws domain, but after I registered it, I got an email about how the registry charges $450 for a 3 character domain. Is it worth it to get a .ws for $450? It's three characters, but still, it's .ws.
If the market thought it would be worth the value and .WS being out for very long time. Would you think you would have the ability to register something based on character limit? Just cause its 3 letters doesn't mean it has value. Don't bother with 3 character .WS's atleast for now and the near future as you wont beable to get rid of them and will be stuck with a debt of 450$
I personally wouldn't buy it. I own numb.ws, but I probably won't end up doing anything with it except selling it off as a domain.
The 3 letters are a good keyword, but a little too good. I was surprised when I seen it available, but then for the money they want for it, I can see why. I don't think I am going to get it....now I need to find a dot com to use.
I have a list available for sale if you're interested in purchasing any of them. PM me for more details.
You said you were looking for a .com, I have a list if you're interested. ( a list of domains for sale )
I would rather register some keyword-rich .ws and develop it. there are many .ws domains for good keywords.
I can't find a domain I like that is more than 3 letters for a dot ws domain. If I have to think of something, I might as well go with a dot com.
I only like some really cool keyword .ws. If it has nothing special but 3 characters, don't think it worth that much.
I have a keyword rich .ws that is a PR6 and doing very well for me. If the three char .ws were cheaper, I'd buy them. Just bought a few more .ws names for future use. They may not be the preferred for reselling, but the search engines sure don't seem to treat the effort put into them any different and it's far better than mykeywordrichdomainbecausevirtuallyeverythingelseisalreadytaken.com
Sorry, but I don't see the big deal about the .ws extension. Sadly, I know many people who think it stands for "web site" but it's actually a country code tld extension for Western Samoa. So what's the big deal? It certainly is not worth $450.
i agree it's not worth $450, however, one cannot deny the revenue potential of developing a .ws website if the domain is keyword-rich (whether it stands for west samoa or website as marketed by some registrars). i'll definitely try to grab .ws with competitive keywords, but not 3-character ones for its shortness.
