Yeah, interesting people with NOT very interesting lives, lol.

Actually I read something a few months back about a casino (can't remember the name) that bids on a lot of these weird auctions and puts the items on display in the casino. Maybe the novelty is a marketing gimmick for some companies, and perhaps a tax write-off? I can think of more useful ways to spend excess cash, but kudos to the sellers who manage to come up with ways to market this kind of stuff!

What's the deal with these kinda auctions? I've seen plenty of them, and they usually have comments from people who seem to know the seller, e.g "nice one, your auciton is featured on ***.com".

    What's the point?

I don't get it. She says it's a sweet marshmallow with a burst of woohoo? Sounds like the open season cartoon.
But the ad says, "You are bidding on (1) marshmallow but not for human consumption"...

What the heck is being sold here??

Maybe it's a front for somebody selling drugs? Or guns or something of that sort.

It includes a "free gift". Most often, the buyer ends up with more than what he payed for.

I wonder what the free gift is. Whatever it is, it sure is attracting more bidders.

I'm thinking that maybe the buyer gets a little encounter with the seller.

If you know what I mean.

Or maybe not, I just don't know anymore.

There must be really something fishy about these auctions. I'm guessing something illegal is behind these kind of auctions.

    Lol... :D

And seriously I hate this kind of thing. Trying to get cash for doing absolutely nothing... :(

Although I agree with choice that the buyer won't even bother paying.

Yeah, why would anyone bid on a (at the moment) $5000 marshmallow??? Even tough it contains a free mystery gift!

You're thinking about Golden Palace. They use to buy crazy crap on ebay for the press it would generate. Spend $10k on nonsense - get a million dollars worth of press coverage out of it. Actually, it was a smart strategy for a while.

I use to get a good laugh out of them. What's funnier than someone spending 10 grand on a 10-year old half eat grilled cheese sandwhich, just because the grill mark resembled the Virgin Mary? Hmm, one thing was funnier. That they sent it on a world tour where it attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors. What a crazy world ebay has created.

Sounds like a not so clever way to launder money. Of course it's good for getting publicity, especially if the guy you're buying from is your nephew.
