I own www.godofradio.com and no, I am not spamming my site for hits here! I'm in the process of turning it into both entertainment type stuff for the average viewer and geared toward helping people develop talk shows online. I have the experience to do that, and its something that never recieves any attention, ANYwhere. Its really kicked in and is getting 3K uniques everyday. Its using a TON of bandwidth as well. I am spending a lot of time on the site and on marketing it...that plus doing the show makes for a LONG day. I ADORE doing it, but in order to keep putting this kind of time into it, it is going to have to start generating some money. I really don't know where to begin. I'd LOVE to have some suggestions on how to start generating cash. I know that's a large question and one that seems very abstract and wide open, but I truly do not know where to begin. I have 18 years in radio experience, not sales. THANKS SO SO SO MUCH! I look forward to reading what you have to say.
its just an ugly site. No offense. Clean it up a bit. That'll help a lot. If i was a visitor and came across that site, I would click BACK. Get something appealing to the eyes so people will actually stay at your site.
Are you using Firefox to view the site? It jumbles up stuff with FF sometimes. I dunno why. If not, throw some suggestions.
I'm not a fan of message boards that you have to register to see. I don't want to register just to find out that there are only 11 people on it. I'd give read access to atleast some forums for guests. If you don't want to do that, make sure that you have given googlebot an account so it can spider your forum (you do this through the webmaster tools I believe). I just noticed - is your forum hosted on some free service? I'd move off of that as soon as possible! You probably can't put any ads of your own on that board. Also as you grow, you will find it harder and harder to move from that free host. I'm also using firefox, and I'll echo what the other guy said. I don't like the big table borders around your main content. I'd give one of the designers here $100 to do a site revamp. finally, I couldn't find your sitemap (the one you submit to google). Go to www.google.com/webmaster and signup.
I viewed it through Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer. The site is the same in all three browsers. It looks fine, formatting wise, that is. Although I wouldn't say that it is ugly in design, it could and should look better. You have a lot of competition out there. However, if you ever make future changes and it doesn't look the same and your programmer says that is the best he can do, change programmers! Or are you the programmer? ~ I didn't look at it through monitor size 1280 X768, a size that many nerds use. 3,000 uniques a day is using a "TON" of bandwidth? It shouldn't. I'd look into that. You should put in short "send to a friend" forms right on your pages. Put them underneath your best stuff. Go to similair sites and contact their advertisers. DavesDaily.com is a good start. You also have these to choose from... TextLinkAds, TrafficSwarm, CasaleMedia.com, FastClick, BurstMedia, FC, TribalFusion, Azoogle, CPA Empire, GlobalInteractive, AdBrite, Adengage, RealMedia, Kontera, Avnads, ValueClick, Vibrant, RealTechNetwork, Dotomi.
I am indeed doing the website alone. THANKS for the well thought out reply. I, admittedly and probably obviously know nothing about website design. I am learning. I like the blue left and top of the site and am not married to the other parts. How should it be cleaned up? THANKS SO VERY MUCH!
BTW, ADBRITE: UGH. I used them before and the ads don't pay very much at ALL. Its a user friendly way to do it, but the money is nothing. It wouldn't even pay for the server space.
How many listeners do you have ? Are you interested to shout out advertisements for my website(s) in exchange for a decent sum of money based on number of listeners / age / country / location / etc (we can discuss and negotiate later on_ Let me know if you are interested, send me a private message please. Thank you!
I have about 500 listeners. Its growing steadily, especially now with the growth of the website. I'll PM you. I can send you Geopgraphic stats along with pretty much anything you'd need.
