An experiment which I'm currently doing, which is doubling my earnings and CTR. The right placement and the right amount of ads on the homepage can yeild great CTR and Earnings. Good luck.

I would guess that you're now capturing some revenue from visitors who would have left your site after visiting only the home page. I don't think there's anything wrong with placing ads on one's home page, provided that it's done tastefully. :)

my homepage is also a small portion of my site (1000 page views vs 20,000 on the forums) and I agree with this article. 50% of my earnings comes off the home page.

LOL. No, actually I have an extremely high pageview-to-unique count. As Some visitors spend over 20 minutes browsing the site and cover over 100 pages. It's not a forum as well. It's just a bunch of content that they are highly interested in.

I don't want to take full credit for the experiement becuse it's actually a move that is currently being keep under secrets by a very large large large, company. That's all I can say at the moment.

While the placement of adsense on the homepage isn't something new, I just thought I write about it for people who hasn't tried it. Earnings could cover more than half. 1 page is doing this...

Isnt it fun experimenting with all these things. The google heat map is a help but it really depends on how your overall site flows. You need to think of it from your visitors point of view and I like to blend in my ads.

Uhh...duh! Isn't it obvious to have ads on the front page?

no, it's not pretty obvious, you would be surprise that a lot of websites don't have it on the front page.

Anyways, experimenting is good. It seems a lot of publishers don't really like to experiment. but I dont' blame them, since you can't move your adsense ads everywhere, I mean it has to adhere to your layout atleast.

Well you can check if your average pageviews per visitor goes down to see if you 'lost' them...

yup that's what I said in the blog.

Another little interesting thing to note. If you have "updates" on the front page, instead of something that is "fixed" (never changes), something liek a welcome to my website for free photoshop tutorials, and that is like that all the time, the CTR isn't has good as if the home page had news of updates.

I found out a lot about ads through the home page. Like what ads have higher CTR and what doesn't.

An Update. Anyways, I been tinkering around some more particularly with "Link Units" on the homepage.

I now make 95-100% of my earnings on one page! One page, the homepage! CTR is 5x when compared to 5 months ago. I removed ads from poorly performing pages as well.
