I have a domain that expires tomorrow. So I got online and logged in at Registerfly. Unfortunately I couldn't, and got in touch with live chat support. Matt told me that there are technicians working on the site and it should be back up in an hour or so. Unfortunately I have to leave soon and at the same time I can't let it expire. So he told me not to worry as I have a grace period of 29 days to renew with no added charges. My question is: does that make sense? Did something similar happen to you? Thanks for any help!
There is a grace period and redemption period. Deletion varies among registrars. There is usually an additional fee if you are late, which is why I always renew at least a full month before. RegisterFly is nothing but trouble. Their prices for new domains are low, but that is only if you don't count your time as worth anything for dealing with all their technical issues. I don't know if their support has improved, but you could wait on hold over an hour trying to speak with someone.
Yeah, I know, I had issues in the past with them, I should have transfered out a month ago, or at least renewed. Unfortunately, due to many reasons, I didn't. I'll contact them again to make sure, thanks!
Actually, I went back later in the night, before midnight in the US, bedtime where I am, in Europe, and managed to make the renewal. I'll have to see if it's worth staying with RFly or transfering out.
