263 Clicks, but No Sales. Is It Time For a New Affiliate?

    Hi All:

I just started an affiliate site a few months ago. My product is something that's not an impulse buy, and could range in price from $100-300 dollars. I also think my prospect will compare many products before buying.

I chose the advertiser in CJ that had a high EPC and high Network Earnings. They also have a 90 day cookie. I feature individual products on my site, along with their price, and let the prospects click through to the advertiser's site to learn more an make a purchase.

However, I've had 263 clicks to date and no sales (except for a very small $.18 sale). Is it time to move on to another advertisers?

It's hard to say. There are a variety of things to consider.

Average conversions are 2% but to some degree the higher the sales price the harder conversions are to make.

Since the merchant has good EPC and everything, I would assume that says the problem is not their conversion rates.

Could be your traffic is not well targeted enough. Based on your marketing or keywords you could be attracting more info hounds as opposed to buyers. Or could be you need to do a better job of pre-selling.

I don't think there is a magic number, but in the past I've heard affiliates say they give a merchant a chance up to 500 clicks. So maybe try tweaking some things and give it more time.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thanks for the reply 5star. I think I will give it a little more time. I just started an AdWords campaign with highly targeted keywords, so I'll wait to see the results from about a month of that.

Apart from the 500 clicks, I would also keep an eye on your total spend. So if the merchat is paying you $100, personally I would not spend more than that to test and see conversions.

AHHH! The lime green! It burns!

just kidding :) 263 clicks should have gotten a sale

Maybe you should try AdSense or adCenter. You can actually make money for 200+ clicks.

make sure that they're targeted traffic, coz, if it's a junk... no metter u got 200 or more, they will not convert.
