    I signed up with a 50$ credit.

    oh well, hopefully someone else will be able to use it.

    What I don't get is that it appears you need to have already received something from google with the credit code.

    See the third step. It references a mailer.

    Get your $250 credit. In your AdWords account, fill out your “Billing Preferences” under the “My Account” tab. Enter your coupon code exactly as it appears on your mailer. Click “Save and Activate.”

    I'd be interested to know if someone got this to work without the code.

    I thought adwords were selected by google or some searching engines. Are we talking about those little ads on the right side when we’re using google?

    Seems like a lot of confusion has been going around about this. Read the part where it says have your coupon handy. You WON'T get 250 bucks for free....

    Yep, I wish people would realize that you need a mailer to receive the code.

    YOU NEED A POSTCARD FROM GOOGLE WITH THE CODE ON IT - YOU CAN GET THIS IF YOU ARE A NEWLY ESTABLISHED BUSINESS!

    DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS! This was a scam by Google....seriously! They posted this stupid link on the web so users would sign up and pay the $5 registration fee, but only "select" individuals get the coupon. In fact, these select individuals would already have the coupon. See the official Google Forum discussion thread about it here:
