ferret77 wrote: I agree with you that present laws aren't working and if you read my posts right i also never said i am totally against it and for outright banning the whole stuff. Banning the idea of paid legalized heroine...Yes. I have also said that in free legalization there might be a solution. See this post of mine: Edz wrote: The only solution to really stop illicit heroine trade is to give out this socalled refined if not better synthetic heroine for free that achieves the same effect for addicts of today in regard of highness level. It's important that the quality of the high is not below then the illicit heroine of today. This offcourse brings out costs for the goverment but if you think what can be achieved by doing this it's a by far more cost effective solution. (all crimes that are associated with the need to obtain money to buy heroine is gone, and that's a lot) But paid legalization is not the solution since money is still involved, the combination of money and the need for the drug is the root of all evil cut away the money aspect and the bad things that happen because of getting or the need to get the stuff are no longer since money isn't anymore involved. Keeping the money aspect will only mean creating a new battle ground on economic grounds for the bigger criminal enterprises and they will loose a lot of profit but they will adapt. But is it possible to make heroine refined that well that it gives you the same high and make addictive levels less to give addicts a better oppurtunity to step out of it? Can we make it totally sysnthetic as well? Since goverments don't have these inmense poppy fields, this should also be taken in considderation. U.S. is by far a bigger country then the Netherlands so maybe in the U.S. it could be an option. I am not as hrblcantra so nicely put set one way or for banning the stuff and kicking addicts to the curb or playing them in the hands of the criminals but i can't see any real benefit of legalizing paid heroine. That is bringing buckets of water to the sea in my oppinion. Cut away the money aspect of heroine and you cut away the crimes that are the cause of the need to buy heroine and plus you cut away the traditional heroine trade entirely and you don't leave any room for competition. And offcourse it's still the question if the drug business doesn't addapt so much to give out a form of heroine that is once again a bit better to expierence a better high then the legalized free heroine. But it would be a better way to combat it.
I really don't like the whole judgement behind this thing. We all fuck up. Some people don't have the upbringing where right and wrong appear black and white. Societies that don't give you second chances do IMO need a major make over.
In NY and several other states any adult can go into a pharmacy and buy clean needles, lots of people get their panities in a bunch about that, but the fact is it stops aids and other blood carried diseases. kubiku this is what you said Everyone makes a choice, some people choose to get high or drunk, some people go to AA meetings , get sponsors and stay sober. There are probably many times that many people who choose to get high , this weekend there were tons of normal successful people across the US choosing to get high on something. Why should they be criminalized because some people cannot handle their drugs. Every weekend a bunch of drunk drivers kill a bunch of people, but no one says the answer is to make alcohol illegal. Sometimes I think people are almost incapable of having original thoughts, its like, well the government said its bad. So its bad, end of story. Don't ask questions, some old ass dude in some legislative building freaking 50 years ago ,wrote down on a peice of paper that something was illegal and its like God declared it or something.
Did you guys know that denver made possesion fo weed legal http://www.thetigernews.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/11/04/436a7ba0e8bfb BFD
maybe some other states will follow. I predict Oregon being the first. The drug laws are so lose over here already.
Its getting way out of hand, this entire drug problem/war. There has to be a better way to take this on...
ferret77: I never implied that anything should be criminalized... I don't know where you got this idea... maybe you are confusing my post with someone elses? The only thing I suggested is that people with addiction problems should be helped, and that I think we have an ethical responsibility to help people in trouble. Regarding your other point: I guess either I'm being unclear or we have a fundamental disagreement. I think people may have made a choice at some point without realizing the consequences, and are now in a position in which they are unable to choose anything. Some people genuinely can't get themselves into rehab programs because their addiction has overpowered them. I very much doubt the crack heads downtown who are freezing at night are "choosing" to do so. To put it bluntly, they're screwed, and in my opinion these people should be helped.
Legalisation of free customized heroine with the same strength and containing less levels of addiction There you go. Really? before you know it you can buy it in ''coffeeshops'' just like here and have paid sex Be patient
