I think you're probably right. To get initial traffic while you work on SEO, there are lots of options including Adwords, PPC and directories. None of them will be as powerful in the long run as good search engine placement. But yes, it is very hard to get the right placement for the right keywords. Otherwise we'd all be rich.
hey, can anyone suggest me a way to correct the word "Google Adsense" in the poll to "Google Adwords"...people are grilling me over it...HELP!!!
One thing that works very well is a Virtual Office, Most people dont realise that you can have an office in the best locations in the world for $40/£19 a month! By doing so you will be seen as a more legitimiate enterprise with a high profile rather than giving off the perception that you work out of your parents basement. When you write to large newspapers you can use these address like Wall street and they can reply to this address. This kind of service has been around for many many years but too few people are aware of it. The best thing is its really cheap and gives off great business perception. Feel free to ask me any questions. BTW. Great info Mukund. Cheers
Depending on your niche and where you live, you can get free publicity from local TV stations. Local radio stations are also a possibility.
I am not a big reader of books, so it takes something special for me to mention it. This book really changed the way I thought about business and the ideas in the book are case studies from some of the most successful businesses in the world. Many more people will click on a naturally occuring result in a search engine than what they know to be an ad. They expect to be sold something if they are clicking on an ad.
