I need a Golf related header graphic for a new project. The site is targeted to affluent adults who play or are learning golf, so graphic should be appealing to that demographic. If it's useful to you the site layout uses the following 2 shades of green: #34821c #124d09 Graphic dimensions needed are: width= 940 height= 98 The only text needed is: Duffer's Club I want to leave this open for your artistic creativity. However, if possible I'd prefer the text to appear as carved or burnt lettering on an antique wooden plaque, the sort of "sign" you might see hanging in a golf clubhouse, but that isn't required and it shouldn't take away from the golf theme of the overall graphic. If you have any questions please ask. I look forward to seeing all of your submissions. There is no time limit on this contest, my partner and I will review and provide feedback on entries until we have something that both of us like, that will be the winning entry. Thanks and best wishes!
Thanks for the entries so far, I'm waiting to get my partner's input on them and then will post some specific comments for each artist.
I appreciate the efforts eveyone puts into their submissions, so please take the comments below as pure constructive critisism based on the needs of our specific project and not as commentary on the overall talents of any artist. @narutoroot, yours is nice and clean, but doesn't come close to the size specs so I worry it might look squashed at 940 x 98 pixels - also the ball looks a little too cartoonish. Feel free to resubmit at the right size and maybe with a different ball if you like. @deception, yours is too clip-arty for our taste and affluent audience. I like it and think it would be great if we were targeting young (kids/teens) golfers, but we're not so it doesn't work at all for this project. @djrulz & @Dante777, I'm putting yours together because they both had the same reaction from my partner and I, the entries look like graphics from a golf video game. They're done well, but not the route we're looking for here. @debayanmitra, a lot of people have included wood in their entries, but you're the first to use it as I explained with a plaque rather than just wooden planks or boards. We really like yours and it's getting a closer look right now. There is a glow/stroke around the person in the image that's a bit heavy around the club near her left hand, making it look like she's holding a lightsaber more than a golf club, can that be lightened a bit? @gestalt, your refined version is the better of the 3 you posted, but all 3 have more of a golf game graphic than we're looking for with this project. They're nice, though the wireframe(?) ball is a little odd, but not the direction we're looking for. @Redders, yours is very clean and elegant. We like it a lot and like debayanmitra above yours is getting a closer look right now. The only request I might have with yours is on the heads of the golf clubs at the far right there almost looks like a bright or sun spot glare, it's hard to describe for me but if you look at the single club head and the ball to the left there's a nice green tint over them but when you get to the bag of clubs on the right it looks like a hot spot in the tinting or something. Could that be dialed down a notch? The wood isn't a plaque but works just fine with the styled lettering you used, would it also be possible to make the lettering pop out just a little more? Maybe enlarge it slightly, or try it in bold, I don't want to ruin the effect you have there because it's great, but if you could get the lettering to stand out from the background just a little more that would be nice. @darike, both of your entries are well done. With the top one, could you slide the background ball to the left so that it isn't under more than just the "D" in the text? On the second one, that ball floating there next to the text doesn't really work for us, could you lose it and then maybe enlarge the text a little, and give the text a slight transparency? Okay, right now debayanmitra, Redders and darike are all getting closer looks. I've also had a few private entries by PM. I appreciate all the efforts from everyone and still welcome additional entries or refinements until a final selection is made. Thanks!
