$25 Contest for a Logo

I'm looking for a logo symbol for my Corporate Event Planning Business called EdgEvent Designs. It's a young, edgy, trendy kind of company, with an emphasis on innovation and creativity but needs a professional feeling logo (and website for that matter). I don't have a website built yet, but do have a placeholder page with my best attempt at a logo (www.edgeventdesigns.com) to give you an idea of what i'm looking for.

    What I want is:
-A symbol that can be used independent of the name of the company. The font i really like for the company name is PortlandRoman (see the site). the Symbol should suit that font, or something similar.

-Something simple with clean lines that can easily be translated onto many mediums (i.e. letterhead, business cards, website, newsletters, brochures etc)

-I like the idea of using an E or 2 Es intertwined in sort of an abstract way to give me a symbol.

-I'm still trying to work out a color scheme, but the site will likely be in shades of red or blue. So if you can show me options in both those colors, that'd be great

-While i like the sleek look of web 2.0 logos, i don't want my logo to be too cartoony, with too many reflections and shading that make it hard to reproduce on paper or in different sizes. It should look sleek, sophisticated and professional but edgy too.

If i choose your logo, and you happen to design websites too, this may very well turn into a web design opportunity too. So please let me know if you're interested in website design and we can talk more about that.

The contest will end on Friday, Nov 9th.
Thanks all and i can't wait to see what you come up with! Good Luck!

    Hey Killaklown,
Thanks for the entry. I'm not sure i like the symbol though. The ones with the little half circle on top make the image look like an person with their legs spread wide..and i'm not really sure that's what i want people seeing in reference to my business LOL
The ones without the circle look too obviously like Es and not really a symbol.
But i do like the fading effect on the text.

Matafixer - its interesting but I think that has a little too much going on in the way of reflections and stuff that it would be hard to reproduce.

Wasted - i love your design. it has the right sort of simple look to it. So far, it's in the lead. Could i see it with the Designs under the EdgEvent? could you maybe overlap the Es in the symbol a bit?

wasted - i can't see the second version of your logo. Can you repost?

Mike - It's cute, but i was hoping for something more interesting that just the 2 Es alone. Can you put them together and overlap them somehow in the circle? Also could you make the text just a little more 3D so it matches the icon?

TD - I like the top version better. the font of the bottom one is a little hard to read. but i do like the sort of simple glossy thing on the bottom. Can you do that for the top one?

Wasted - As far as the text goes, I like it better with the Designs all in one color and off to the right side like the first one...but maybe underneath the EdgEvent if possible. And i like the reflection in the first one better than the shadow. Still thinking about the symbol though..the first one seems too wide open and other one seems a little cramped. I'm not sure how to fix that though.

TD - I love that you used the portlandRoman font in the second sample. I think the top of the symbols looks strange with it being highlighted like that. is there a way to make the symbol stand out more in 3D some other way? And i think i like the reflection of the symbol in the first one more than the shadow

    thanks so much guys...

Neil - I think it's interesting. I don't like the little white lines on the top though. I think it should be just the cube. can you make the cube shorter? it seems taller than it is wide and i think i'd prefer it wider rather than tall. Also, can you change the font for the Es in the cube? but it looks great!

Neil - Wow that was quick! I think i like the second from the top the best, mostly because the Es fill up more space. But the top part that's empty is like dead space an almost half the design. can we put something in there? maybe the some pattern or those curvy lines like the first one had? can we try some different colors?

Its sort of hard to describe. Can you maybe try to pull the Es apart just a little? So they still over lap some but are not so close? I'm looking for something sort of in between the first and second one in terms of spacing. but it looks great.
