$25 Coat of Arms Contest - Something Different!

This is the first contest I've run here, and it should prove to be interesting. I have included an image of a drawing I did by hand. Don't laugh! I know I'm no artist. That is where YOU come in.

This is a manhood crest or coat of arms that my two boys, ages 8 and 15, and I developed together. It will go on the walls in their room and mine to remind us of certain commitments we have made and of values we aspire to. One day we hope to get rings made with this design on it.

I want you to use artistic license, but it is important that we keep the basic elements of the design since everything in it is symbolic. We need a shield with a cross in the middle, a knight's helmet at the top, crossing swords behind the shield, and the words "Lead Courageously" on a banner somewhere in the picture. Those are my attempt at wings sticking out from the sides of the shield. I am sure you can do MUCH better! In the center is a flaming heart which represents passion.

In the picture you will see where I have made notes in the top corners. These do not need to be depicted in your graphics at all, but if you have an idea for how to use any of them without cluttering things up too much, feel free to give it a shot.

The contest will run until June 30th. I will announce the winner and pay via Pay Pal immediately. Thanks to all of you in advance. I have been looking at your work, and I am impressed. I am self-employed and am always working on new business ideas, so if this works out I will be looking for more help from you guys and gals in the future.

I reserve the right to not pick any designs if I am not completely satisfied, but hopefully that won't be an issue.

 

Well.....OK then. I guess this was too difficult for the money I was offering, so I am uping the ante.

That is a great start imhawk! I love the contrast between the greyscale and the bright reds and oranges on the heart and the banner. The shadowing is good too!

If you could come up with a more serious-looking knight helmet, that would be great. Overall, the wings aren't bad, but something a little more like bird wings would be better.

P.S. The top of the shield can come to a point. My knight helmet in the drawing sort of blocks the top of the shield. Also, the look you have depicted with the grey background gives the graphic a brushed steel look which is GREAT! It has a MANLY-MAN look to it. : )

I really like your shield most of all. The darker shield and background is nice and the shape of your shield and cross design is unique. The wings aren't bad, but look a little too hairy for lack of a better word....maybe fuzzy, although their outline shape isn't bad.

I like your color choices except for the sword handles. If you could make the shape and color of them a little more masculine, that would be nice. I'm not sure about the helmet style. It is close to what I have in my drawing, but I think I would like to see your design with a different style helmet.

I wasn't sure if you wanted the cross-pieces changed, or just the actual grips, but I can change it if you'd like.
I hope you like this revision, I actually think it looks much better and improved the scalability.

Good job! This is very unique and different looking. The swords and shield look real! I like the different styling on the cross. The flaming heart is awesome! The scroll is a nice touch.

If I were to change anything.....maybe the wings....I like them, but they are a little too curvy...almost have a butterfly look....too feminine looking....perhaps wings that look as though they belong to an eagle or a hawk. I don't know how to explain it....I like the look of them otherwise.

If you could find a helmet that looks as realistic as the swords and shields perhaps. The style of helmet you have is OK, but my favorite is the crusader style helmet....

You probably missed it, but I am asking for a banner now over the top with the name RODGERS on it.

On your scroll, where it says, "cross is more important" can you change that to Remember the Cross
