Good morning friends. I am the owner of a PR3 soccer fansite where traffic comes mostly from news aggregators. According to Google Analytics, I had 22,948 unique visitors in February, 27,471 in March and already 26,223 in April. I'm based in the UK. Now I want to step it up a gear and I am ready to pay for it so my question is: are there specialised companies who are able to drive traffic to my blog without using dirty tricks? I want 100% genuine visitors, those who are actually interested in the team this website is about. Even if some of you guys believe he can do it ... I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.
You should make a list with your keywords that you consider are relevant to your website, and try some adwords campaigns, see wich one converts the most.
Hi DonPedro, thanks for the quick reply. I must admit I totally forgot about AdWords or better, maybe it is not for me. I mean, my main source of revenue are banners, CPM and it would make no sense to pay $100 in adwords to get $20 in return from the banners, especially when you consider how high the CPC rate is for the keywords I had in mind.
Here is the problem thegunninghawk, If you want to pay for traffic, for it to be good traffic (targeted visitors) it will be more expensive than what you will get in return from the CPM advertising you are doing. So what can you do to grow traffic? Simple answer is SEO. The only method that will bring in mass visitors over a long period of time at a cost effective rate is SEO. For your particular niche, a great idea would be Forum Marketing, it will help SEO and will also drive a bit of traffic. Another idea would be commenting on related blogs! Forum Marketing Join a few soccer related forums and start to interact with the people there. Make sure to have quality posts, and make sure they are relevant. After building up a few posts make sure your to fill out your profile and ad a signature link with your main keyword as your anchor text. If you are a valuable member of the forum and contribute to the discussions people will want to know more about what you have to say and will visit your site. This, in turn, will lead to them blogging about your site (more backlinks, a big thing in SEO) and word of mouth! Commenting on Blogs Do a search for blogs that are related to soccer. Become a frequent commenter on those blogs. Like forum marketing, make sure your comments are relevant and not spammy at all! In the name section of the comment put your main keyword phrase, and in the Website section put your URL there. These two will increase traffic a bit, but will also be helpful in SEO and help grow your search engine traffic in the long run! PS This post is an example of forum marketing for my blog!
Why use dirty tricks? Start a youtube channel and start posting videos on Soccer. Make the videos relevant to your sites content, use targeted keywords in the video title and description and insert your website name into the credits of the video. Back in April of 2007 I opened my youtube channel and started posting videos. Over 300 videos later and youtube is my #1 source of targeted traffic.
You can try seo, but it does not mean you will land high enough to be seen. It just does not work that way. It is not guaranteed. What works is advertising and word of mouth. Go look at the traffic some of the boards at big-boards.com has. Not THAT'S traffic! You want a lot of visitors, right? I'm afraid you are going to have to advertise. There is no other way. Place cool, well thought-out ads in sites you think people may click on. That's bascially it, right there. If you want others to do it, here are the most used by advertisers when it comes to buying traffic: TextLinkAds, TrafficSwarm, CasaleMedia, Advertising, FastClick, BurstMedia, TribalFusion, Azoogle, GlobalInteractive, AdBrite, Adengage, RealMedia, Kontera, Avnads, ValueClick, RealTechNetwork, Reduxmedia, and, Dotomi. Many of these are not cheap, but they get the job done. What news aggregators are you using?
if you have got a regular stream of traffic find out exactly were it is coming from and then do some advertising in those areas. Allot of the time you will waste your money trying to get traffic unless you know a little more. Find out were the traffic comes from then ad some banner ads and maybe some ppc on related sites
Hi friends. I didn't expect so many replies so million thanks and here's some more information. I did try a banner on a very popular soccer website and the results were very, very poor. Maybe the banner was badly designed, who knows, but I'm skeptic about banners. Adsense: I have them but in 8 months, 581 clicks out of 230,730 page impressions. Only. Maybe there are badly placed. Affiliate links: I have them, get clicked, not as much as I want, only one completed transaction. Maybe they are also badly placed. So what is that I need? I need someone or a specialised company to analyse my website and instruct how to place google adsense, what colours to use and likewise for affiliate links. Someone who can help me drive more traffic, I don't care if via banners or more aggregators. Now again, I'm ready to pay for this analysis and I'm also ready to pay for results. That is, we agree a fee for the analysis and a fee if the results are obtained, for example: Google adsense clicks to go up by 30% Affiliate clicks to go up by 15% Visitors to go up by 35% ... something like that. Hope you now have a better picture and thanks again for your valuable help.
My friend uses AdWords and he's really impressed by it. His conversion rate is well over 10%. I think it could really help get some new and loyal visitors to your blog. I'm not sure how competetive your keyword is, but if you're willing to pay then definitely check out the pricing.
