I'm new to cj as well. I've served up about 250,000 impressions on 4 or 5 sites, had about 150 clicks and no revs. The sites target women aged 25-34, so I went with health & beauty and cosmetics ads. However, no sales so far...

I originally tried adsense, but I was getting about a $.10 cpm there and it just wasn't worth it.

There is no thing called normal/abnormal.

All you have to do is keep testing.

Before you start promoting an advertiser in CJ, ask your friend to make a lead/sale and make sure that link works. You have to do this for sure.

Have you tried weight loss ads such as eDiets, WeightWatchers, or diet pills?

It largely depends on the advertiser and the traffic you are getting.

    Here are some possibilities:

    1. Maybe the advertiser is a dud, and their landing pages don't convert. I have sent over 1200 clicks to one advertiser without a conversion, then paused my ad campaign. I have a 60-day cookie, so I may yet see a profit, or break even.

    2. Maybe it takes time for the conversions to register; this is where the referral period (cookie length) comes in. One advertiser I use requires people to do something which can take a couple days or weeks (if it were me). There is no possible way to tell how many clicks will convert on the same day for this advertiser.

    3. Maybe the traffic you are sending isn't targeted enough to their services. This is most apparent when you are getting conversions, but not a lot of them, say, one out of 500. In that case, you need to better target your traffic and try to get more conversions out of the clicks you are sending to them and/or paying for. Instead of advertising for "widgets," you need to advertise on keywords like "High end widgets" or "cheap widgets").

    Hope this helps.

Hi... It's perfectly normal. Do not panic. May be you could think about placement of the ads... Check out thatisweird.blogspot.com where I have effectively used text- and image-based CJ ads for maximum utilization...

    No, I haven't but that's a good thought.

I actually can't change the placements because they're not on my own sites.

I've now served up about 500,000 impressions and have gotten ~400 clicks but still no sales. People may say that that's normal, and perhaps it is, but from a business standpoint, I think that it is plain bad. These impressions are valued at about an $8 cpm although I got them for free. Running adsense on them got me a $.10 cpm, which is not very good (I was getting lots of clicks but the CPCs I was getting were low). I was thinking that I should be able to get at least a $2 cpm on them. The impressions are on tier 1 sites, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference when it comes to reselling ads the way I am.

If your visitors are people that look after their money then they will shop around before actually buying something, so maybe you have not had any sales yet, but the these people may come back and purchase a product where you will then get credit as your id will be in their cookie.

    This is normal.
The conversion rates for most niches will be 1-2 per 100 clicks. But 200 clicks is too less for avg. to take effect. Sometimes you can go 300-400 clicks without a sale and sometimes you can make 5 sales in 50 clicks. Wait for atleast a month.

Also 2 days is a short period. People who click though today need not make a sale today. they might browse around, come back next week and buy the product.

So bottom line is, be patient!

Also, what exactly are you promoting, and are you being truthful when describing the product you are promoting on your site?

ex. don't say "click here to buy an awesome apple" when you are selling an orange.

HmM.......Seems to me that visitors just clicked your ads and doesn't purchased anything and the advertiser wants to pay only when someone buy something :)

If you are unsure if the amount of clicks are correct look at your site stats. If you get 1000 CJ ad impressions a day then you should roughly know based on the positioning and attractiveness of the CJ ads what click through they woudl get.

If it was 2% click through then that's 20 clicks from 1000 page impressions.

If you are getting something like 50% clickthrough then there might be something up.

You can get ALOT of clicks (into the thousands) without commissions if your ads are not targeted to your audience.

Yea just like Jason said. Make sure you are as laser targeted as can be. Find the long tail and buying keywords if you are promoting via adwords!!!
