I need artistic reactions to news (I hope to do this several times a week). I will post news stories, and you need to give an artistic reaction to that news story. There's no rules or no specific look! When I look around the DP forum and I see people's avatars that make me chuckle or are clever in some way; that is the kind of creativity and outside-the-box thinking I need for my website (but bigger). It could be just a an original hand-drawn doodle, or it could be an original graphic.

Here's a few news stories: just make a response to any one of these. Again, I guarantee at least on winner (check my feedback)!

    Story 1:
Two big stories showing Kids with major talent this week: One is an incredible (6-th grade student) singer named, Greyson Michael Chance, the other has started her fourth corporation by the age of 18:
Art ideas: Kids in the boardroom or as a 'big-wig' mogul behind a desk in fancy office? Adults screaming for teen pop-star on stage. Students as teachers?

    Story 2:
Student gets beat by teacher (then it turns out the teach has a one-year old warrant for her arrest):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfcJngjhm5M&feature=player_embedded
Art ideas: A teacher in a prison uniform teaching (or hovering over) a frightened student at his/her desk. OR ?

    Story 3:
    Oklahoma's bizare/freakish tornadoes:
ideas: Menacing tornado imposed on a map (use copyright-free map as background from wikimedia) tears up misouri/kansas/arkansas/Iowa region. OR ?

    Story 4:
The US stock market's crazy dip:
ideas: investors freaking out. OR, An investment manager pointing at a chart bragging, we bout here, sold here, bought here, sold here etc. (you could use a DOW chart in the background)OR ?

I will have more stories throughout the week. Make me laugh, or think, or see a current event in a new clever way.

I do what I promise. The best image wins $5.00, The contest is over in just a few hours. If you are the only entry, and you upload an original image ,,, say a pile of dog sh**; you win. Why? Because I always do what I promise.

This is simple. See a news story; Draw some Doodles on a piece of paper (React to the news).

Here are two more news stories you can react to (in addition to the above).
    1) 'Deadliest Catch' Greenhorn guilty of three counts of bank robbery, (sentenced to 9 years I think): http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20005004-504083.html
    2) Space shuttle Atlantis makes its last flight

Are you serious? This is a slap to the face to any real designer. If you don't have the funds to pay a respectable price then perhaps you shouldn't be starting a site that requires as much.

Nikola, that's a stupid comment. Here is why:
-I am asking for doodles that can be done in minutes.
-I see several threads here for $5.00,

Just a old collage I made into almost of a comic strip impersonating Nick Griffin from the British National Party. (With all due respect to the BNP + its supporters)

Just posting it cause I thought some would find this entertaining. I like the facial expression of Nick on the ground xD

View full image here (if it clips)

Although I am not adverse to silliness, I would like to provide some feedback and direction for those putting in good effort: I think of these as 'political cartoons' or social commentary. If you watch the news and keep up with current events, this is an opportunity for you to editorialize and express your opinion on current events; yes you can do this in a funny or serious way, but it is news editorials that I am looking for (folks that keep up with the news might be better at this). I will continue to monitor this thread, and if things go well, I will continue to post new stories that our website covers. Thank you sincerely for your efforts.

Stealth, the artwork isn't bad; I'm not expecting Rembrants for $5 (haha). It just didn't catch the essence of the big story -- which is the retiring of Atlantis after 25 years of service. The whole shuttle program is being scrapped too - it's an end of an era. It's kind of nostalgic. Thanks for your efforts though.
