23,000 Impressions & finally my first sale.

So a few days ago I received my first sale in my Amazon Affiliate Account. One of the visitors to my blog ended up clicking on one of the Amazon Products i was showing. (A video game) and ended up buying a completely different video game than the one listed. So it's nice to see the Amazon Cookie working. That is one thing that i really like about Amazon.
Anyways the item he bought was 59.99 and I got around $2.50 as I'm new to Amazon so i need to increase my commission by getting more sales as it's only at 4% right now.
I have given them 23,000 impressions in the last 3 weeks with only around 22 clicks and only 1 product converting. (the video game i spoke of)
So i completely changed the way people see the items on my blog, I've left the links there and made a nifty little shop for people on my blog to go search in and buy items from Amazon. I'm hoping it will increase the sales.

I'm just looking for some recommendations on what I need to do differently. I get a good 100+ Unique visitors a day and I have an Alexa Rank of 474,000. I get some pretty targeted visitors everyday.

If you guys know of anything that would help me, please say so! All comments are appreciated...

Try to focus on getting more American/Canadian/Australian/U.K. visitors to your blog. The possibility of selling products increases.

I've never really thought about it that way but that's a good idea. Although my alexa rank for US Visitors is right around 100,000. I get most my visitors from the United States.

    Hey,

    1. Delete the aStore. Most of the people that I know and most on this forums say that it's stupid. And it is, people can go directly to Amazon and search for games. Why would they be on your aStore that looks un-professionally (not because of you) and buy stuff there?

    2. Do you do game reviews, like 'FIFA 2008' and then you talk about it and show videos, pictures? If yes, then post a Link Based Amazon code at the beginning and then an image+text code at the bottom so they will see it when reading the text.

    3. Check your stats and how many come from UK, France, Germany and Canada. Then at the bottom of the post do something like 'Also available at Amazon Germany, France etc. and you link each to the game you're reviewing. If you're confused take a look at my blog>cameras&equipment>buying a DSLR (don't want to advertise my site here)

It's hard getting money with 100 visitors per day. However, if you know where to search..it's not! I have currently 120 visitors per day but I answer questions on Yahoo Answers! in the Camera category and answer to people that are buying a camera. I then say a few stuff and then post a link to my blog post (without saying it's my site, it's against the rules). These people will usually buy and that's why I'm gonna hit the 100$ mark soon for the second time, after 6 months with Amazon.

Just keep trying different methods until you finally get something that works. I went through a lot of trial and error before my site consistently made sales every month. Getting people to click isn't easy, so good luck.

You'll make far more money if your content directly relates to specific products on Amazon. It's common sense and it works.

Since I started launching niche products blogs (all unique original content) my Amazon income has grown nicely. In fact, I spend entirely too much time waiting for my stats to update each morning.

    $4 in February
    $63 in March
$167 in April (hit 6.5% bracket for first time, boosted by second niche blog and random expensive purchases by readers)
    $133 in May so far

I'm going for $1500 in online revenue in December (including Adsense and CJ too) and I'm off to a good start.

Honestly. You are wasting your time. Amazon's 24 hour cookie is a killer. Most people will wait to buy. Then they just go straight to Amazon and you lose. If you want to make money you have to convince them to buy RIGHT NOW!

Then Amazon after they have your customer one time will email them almost daily with ever offer under the moon. They track everything that the person you sent to them looked at and send them offers over and over and over. Will they remember your site? No.

You need to be extremely focused and have tons of traffic and really target niche items to make much at all with Amazon.

With your traffic numbers you should really be doing Adsense with a direct affiliate program link.

I have very similar low conversion. Not good for a niche site. Any data to show better clicks/conversions based on page placement, for example; left vs. right side, top, etc?

As for me, I work with Shopzilla and with Amazon. Shopzilla pays per click, that's why it is easier to earn some money there.

Why don't you try adding some clickbank hop-ads to your page. They look like google adwords but give a far, far higher return when somebody purchases through them. They are really simple to add to any site.

You might want to toss in a few testing products too and see if they convert better. Also, don't just limit yourself to one affiliate, if you can try out a few of them. You have to remember, not every affiliate will convert, and ontop of it, if you can find something people really want and you can generate impressions like that, you definitely can win out big if you find the right product(s). Good luck!
