Third part of my series on lexicon domains. I analyzed the current usage of 203 English Country .com domains, and here are the results: 80 country domains are actively in use by businesses (and governmental organizations) or individuals 64 country domains are up for sale 59 country domains are largely dormant, sitting parked, under construction, broken, redirected, or unreachable The use of country domains for branding purposes is very limited and only possible in some few cases. Country domains are used in the tourism industry or for export promotion - either by private companies or governmental (tourism) organizations. Some of these domains like burkinafaso.com, cameroon.com, and mauritania.com, I put on my Sedo watchlist more than 20 years ago and they are still listed at high prices though these countries have weak tourism industries. Yes, that's what I saw, too. There are some few cases where country domains are used by ISPs like ghana.com or by media houses like india.com but other than that and tourism industry of course the commercial use is very limited.
