Yes I agree With You. Backlinks(Signature) Links from Forums is a Key factor. May be few Sites will allow only no-follow Links Which not be very effective for SERPS but we get very huge referral Traffic to the website too.

Yes you are right that links are about quality not the quantity, but forum links are good quality links because here you discuss on genuine threads and that discussion is come under quality links.

Forums sites are having several rules & regulation, and we create the account by reading the rules of the website and the forum who are reputed are instantly deleted the spam links.
