Yeah, I'm also new in this cosmos - but a good thing is really to generate good content in order to get your friends, colleagues and aquaintances to share your link within the web.

But what about these web directories? How do they work and what benefits will i receive from them?

And what do you think about tumblr? I'm using it for now a week and I can't see the difference between it and let's say Instagram or Pinterest, only less interactive.

Yeah, with regard to social sharing I've experienced some negative response since many bloggers are recognizing promotions through social web as unwanted spam.. at least those on Facebook. The Google+ communities on the other side seems to have a more mature audience.
