Since both parties are out to destroy the very basic fabric of the United States I think the time has come for every citizen to stand up and show them that we want change from both of the major parties and show our support by Not Voting. Neither side is truly listening to the people and both are bringing in more and more totally radical people to run the goverment in defiance of what this nation has truly accomplished in the 200+ years of its history. Want to make history? Let this election be marked by the lowest turnout in history and force a change that will mean something.
How does 'not' voting help? IMHO that's simply handing over the win to the enemy and you would deserve the worst party to win and then have no right to complain about them when they do what they want. I think the exact opposite is called for. Find the best member in your area and get out there campaigning for them and make sure everyone in your area knows why. I think we get shit because not many can be bothered to get behind the right people and the only ones that get anywhere are the people that can afford to pay for what used to be volunteer work.
Low voter turnouts have historically favoured Republicans so by not voting you are actually voting R.
I can see another 4 years of Obama in 2012, unless a real credible leader unites the fractured Republican party and Independents, all of which think Obama sucks. If it plays out that way, Obama will likely get reelected with much less than 50% of the popular vote. In other words, everyone f´n hates the job your doing, but we cant come up with someone we like better right now.
Were the above an option in the voting both the thread might have a chance for success, otherwise voting for the least undesirable choice, according to Darwin, might have a positive result over time.....of course since 1776 not much has actually come of it.
I fail to understand how not voting qualifies as any sort of participation. If you don't like the two major candidates, then vote third-party. If more people supported third parties, they'd have a greater chance of winning. I would encourage you and all others who are disillusioned with the Republicans and Democrats to do some research and find a third-party candidate to vote for. Personally? I vote third-party whenever the office I am voting for is not a close race. There are third parties to represent all sorts of different views, and there's little excuse for not finding and supporting one. If you really do not like any of the candidates, then write-in one of your trusted friends or family members who is eligible for the office. At least you are voting then.
RON PAUL! RON PAUL! RON PAUL! RON PAUL! RON PAUL! RON PAUL! RON PAUL! As an Aussie this angers me seeing people do this. Look him up on youtube. He is the ONLY, I repeat ONLY politician who DESERVES and CAN run a country. Why do you think everytime he is seen on TV he gains ALL those viewers support. But that right, we never see an honest person like this on TV because 'they' don't want someone changing the 'rich' way of life. Hence no coverage in '08, even though he was supported enough to raise 4+million in less than 24 hours, biggest amount ever, yet still no air time.....something doesn't make sense..... But hey, what would an Aussie who dedicated a year to studying it all know about it, me an me ramblins......
