    Social bookmarking is in trend for a long time now. There are hundreds of social media sites that allow dofollow backlinks; improving your link popularity as well as some quality traffic.

    The latest trend in SEO is that the content-rich sites are surviving and the spammers aren't going anywhere. Google is taking notice of those that aren't following the rules and who aren't.

    So, content wins.

    There was an official thing about Twitter and FB links, but it wasn't very detailed. They admitted that they're now counting links directly from twitters data feed (not their web interface). There's also supposed to be a whole ranking system that determines the weight of links in tweets from different people.

    Social Media is big yes, But overlooked is Local and Mobile seo. These 2 combination are here now and I would say that Local SEO is one of the most important and newest of SEO . Mobile is coming fast and a lot of companies are not at all prepared.

    folksonomy, even if it's getting old now...Still under used...
    And the old and still excellent image name URL. Way under used and when well used, bringing tons of traffic due to little competition (because...under used !! )

    I have never had much success with Twitter, at least not on a LARGE scale. It is so over flooded with bots now, it even makes making connections more difficult. I primarily use it to funnel people to FB where I can really build a business relationship.
