First off, Happy New Year to all dpers!!!!! May 2010 bring you health, joy and happiness. I see quite a bit of members spending way too much time on dp, just lurking around for no particular reason. I've been there, just looking around and just plain wasting my time. This was years ago. I finally found something that works and rarely spend time on DP. Here is what I did: I bought Market Samurai. I picked a niche that I am confortable writing about: "my niche". I searched keyword phrases. I picked 10 keyword phrases. I went and started a blogspot (free) with keywords. I marketed the 3 blagspots for a week ( usual articles, directory submission and social bookmarks). A week later, only one of them ranked on page 36 out of 35 million competition. I dropped the other 2, I went to Godaddy and registered the domain ( this is the keyword that I was using for the blogspot that ranked). I DID ONPAGE OPTIMISATION FOR KEYWORDS. I started marketing, full swing ( I found a process that works, using a combination of web 2.0, article marketing, Angela's links and RSS mashing). 6 weeks later I am on page 1 for multiple keywords and making money. Rinse and repeat (e.g. multiply this, apply to other sites). Why did I write this up? Well, if I can just motivate 1 person, I am happy. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
well, this is something may people lack. we need to be more organized......who cares about the importance of some research in Search marketing these days...all are SEO in no time...just pops out of the blue...

Glad to hear that someone is actually spending the time to research before they go and try to develop content. It's really important to have a site that you enjoy working with, content that keeps you entertained, if you don't you're interest will only stay for so long. One thing though, I would recommend getting yourself a .com or .org instead of going for a free blogspot/wordpress site, the domain makes a whole lot of difference, especially if you intend to stay dominating your keyword phrases.
But I am using linux.I dont know if there are any tools that can be used in linux like market samurai.All the tools on the market is for windows only.Why is it so.
You do not have to use market samurai, use the fere keyword tool by google. The reason I pick a blogspot: This is to just "test the waters". If I can move that page(s) up just a bit, I am game. My latest achievement: found a keyword1keyword2.net that has 300,000+ exact searches a month. Competition: 35 mill. I was able to create a blogspot and market for 3 days. My ranking : 345. I just bought the real domain now and have the designer get me a wordpress theme. At the same time, the writer is getting me 10 articles. Within 48 hours, I should have the site ready to be promoted. Get to work , people, be organized.
and 1 more thing: I do not care for the domain expensions, majority of my domains are .me. I am one of those that believe that the extension does not impact rankings. Have a great day
