I plan on creating some more niche specific directories with some backend content for SEO purposes. I dont sell links, but relay on Adsense. As long as i can get relative traffic i am confident that i can make good money in 2009.
Thus far my view of niche directories has shown that they are not very financially rewarding. Can anyone share some success stories about niche directories vs. general directories.
They are easier to get search traffic. They are easier to get people to browse them. They are easier to be recognised like normal sites from Google. They are easier to get inner pages to rank. They are easier to hold inner PR in categories. They are therefore easier to recognised as leaders in their niche, and will high rankings/PR/whatever other metric you use will get decent daily submissions. If your review fee is $40 then 4 paid submissions a day is very much possible.
I owned a directories network cosist of 14 PR5 Directories . This is not to brag about them ( as you can see, I havnt post the link ) . For each link added ( deep/regular/article ) , it would get at least 200 hits/month due to google search engine , through me . I am not saying that all directories are good, came acros some PR6 directories that are far worse than a PR0 one. But as long as the webmaster keep allowing only quality submissions, and plays along with seo for it, the directory will end up good, and customers will see that . In the end, DMOZ could be considered a link farm ( over 4 mil. link ) , but its not ... Then again, this is only my opinion, I will continue with directories... as long as they are quality ones.
