Avast 4.8 has been great, it is one of the antivirus programs that doesn't slow you pc down like avg does as i use to use it but didn't like the slow down on pc speed it gave me, also kaspersky and a few others do this, i also find ashampoo antivirus works quite well but cannot be used on a 64 bit OS which i am using now.

Also use spybot and spyware blaster as they work good together and use malware bytes for some of the more nasty viruses out there and works quite well also. :)

byyp, I quite agree that Kapersky antivirus is a good one. As it offers a high level of security and it also has lower scanning speed in comparison with other anitvirus systems.

websolutions_777, to my mind there is nothing better than G-DATA antivirus. It is attributed with the ability to use a small part of the resources on your computer. Its effectiveness and the ability to use a small portion of resources can be attributed to the inclusion of parallel scan technology. And it is really awesome.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus is particularly useful for home users looking for simple antivirus software. ESET NOD32 Antivirus protects from malware such as viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware and rootkits. Various types of malware use different approaches to infiltrate. Computer viruses, for example, are computer programs that replicate themselves by spreading from computer to computer. Worms take advantage of security vulnerabilities to spread over networks. Trojan horses pretend to be harmless until they arrive at a place where they can do damage. Spyware collects as much as it can gather about your personal identity and online behavior. Rootkits burrow deep into the operating system and assign themselves supervisory control over processes that allow them to hide evidence of the takeover.
