Learn PHP and MySQL! it is good language especially if you are using powerful framework.

    Pros:
    • Most of the hosting servers support PHP/MySQL by default.
    • Support OOP (although as not as powerful Java)
    • Can be used to create desktop application using PHP-GTK or winbinder.org

    Cons:
    • Server Configuration can be tricky.
    • It may be slow to do certain extensive computing tasks.

Many languages are almost the same , I mean , use the same principal like procedure , functions , and so on , but you have to choose what you enjoy programming most ,then concetrate on those languages which will make your dream a reality. From what you have said , web does a good job for you , so pick web related like php and mysql.

I'd recommend starting using something on the .NET platform, C# is a good place to start - then progress to C++.

But for web programming you can't go wrong with PHP/MySQL

for client part, flash is very good choice; server side have different ways for use. pop tools are php, perl but i don't think that is best: this tools work as interpreter - it means by default slow code; also need remember, vars have global type - it gives possibility for logical errs, even for small project.

    How did that go?

How much do you need to know and understand about web servers/hosting servers to get the most out of web programming languages?
