1) I believe the glype proxy script is the best out there.
2) Not sure about a "cheap" provider. Proxies need good hosting.

Do you people reckon that putting up Adversal on proxified pages helps?
I heard its irritating for users..

 

I use adbrite on my proxified pages so no my users dont have to deal with popups and stuff. the more user friendly the more returning visitors.

 

I agree what LeetDesigns said.. if you put up adversal.. the pop up is disturbing.. once user feel disturbing.. they will move to other proxy site. since we have bunch of proxy site daily

 

I am going to remove adbrite and add adversal for a week or so and see how much traffic i lose and how much money I make. I am not making alot off adbrite about $4 total in 2 weeks. Once I am done trying this i will post stats. thanks

 

Ok, I am fairly new to proxy sites in general and am attempting to set my own up at the moment. I've got a few general questions about overall traffic during different periods of the year. Obviously a large majority of proxy site users are people who attend school (I'm assuming highschool and below as colleges do not filter sites as much). Since highschool only operates 1/2 of the year. Does profits/traffic significantly decrease in this 'off season', maybe to the point where you don't get any profit at all or do they stay fairly consistent throughout the entire year (only fluctuating +-20%)?

In summer, it apparently decreases.
Winter is the "in" SEASON!

 

Also Christmas is about to come.. so holiday time. expect a fall in traffic.

I guess, just filter them out using GEOIP
Use up too much bandwidth and also don't pay much.

i have adbrite but pays $1.3/day average if no clicks on cpm basis for about 25000 pageviews...really sucks or u face same prob...sometimes i see more clicks & $3-4/day

My tip is to add widgetbucks to your proxy homepage as well as adsense and select a high value electronic product category

Widgetbucks clickthrough % is very low but click money is very high so makes up for it - i get 0.50$-0.65$ per widgetbucks click, widgetbucks income on my proxies now equals adsense income!
