It has been long since SERPs started to fluctuate crazily. It has almost reached a frantic stage at this point. I was reading Matt and found the recent SES Conference was all about paid-links and how Google algorithym has been succesful to detect all of them and make them defunct which is the main reason why we are experiencing so much fluctuations in SERPs. Please read Matt Here There is little though- on Matt's blog. But Rand Fishkin has written a comprehensive coverage of it on his Blog -- Read Here --
Thanks for those links, its interesting to read lots of viewpoints. Problem is, google find themselves in a dictatorial position and, as with all dictators, they aren't going to listen to other arguments or points of view, however well thought out they are. Because they believe that they are right and everyone else is wrong. So discussions are very interesting, but won't actually change anything.
Although I see participation in voting on this thread-- what I would like is participation in discussions. Or are you so scared that you can't even speak your mind? Has Google invaded so much? Rages goes on about paid links. Matt says -- Paid links no more pass any PR/Linksjuice. Google algo is smart enough not only to detect PR passing paid links on a particular page--but it is able to decide which are relevant and which are irrelevant and thus distinguish links that will get PR/Link Juice and able to rank. SEOs wants paid links to stay--because without paid links-- bread & butter of 95% SEOs will be finished. If Google algo is as sophisticated as Matt claims- the SEO industry is OVER.
google will finish SEO with this decide or google will finish itself with decide. but in my opinion, it's the end of google. this decide is also the reason of why YAHOO beats google on customer satisfy
