    General Feedback for everyone.

The person that will win this will most likely be the one that has really gone through the specs and documents and understands what I am looking for. I have really laid it out, all of the feedback I am going to be giving individually is already in the specs where I review the different websites that I like.

I have only seen one queen's crown, no chess boards, typical navigation and traditional site design(header on top, navigation in a row on the top or side and then content) Now you don't have to have the previous elements listed above, as they are not mandatory or necessary to have a ground breaking and winning design, but your odds are definitely lowered.

    Break the mold.

If I were the designer I would experiment with:

How about a skyline that is in the middle of the page and extends from one end to the other end. (like the first website i review) Put the content and navigation on the bottom?? Let the sky open up into the logo?? Cut out the skyline so there is no sky or your homemade sky.

How about a skyline on the very bottom of the screen that goes from side to side and the content etc on the top.

How about wrapping the skyline around the page and putting the stuff in the middle.

Try to get away from a boxy looking website, why does it have to have straight lines to make the border. Why have a border? Dissolve the border, I don't know, be different, break the damn box open and let it loose.

    Individual feed back soon..........

    FeedBack-

Please everyone read all of the feedback given, not just yours, so you don't make the similar mistakes.

    Shinan-

    • The theme is too dark, needs to be daylight
    • I assume that the skyline is just a place holder for now, it will need to be Charlotte eventually to win
    • The logo needs to be incorporated into the theme
    • There are too many "blocks of info" on the site, There should be room for video, a medium size block and 2 small size blocks
    • The bottom footer should be minimal and get rid of the "quick navigation"
    • Overall I am looking for something less traditional and more original.
    Commb-
    First Entry-
If you are going to "enhance" the skyline picture, then make sure it makes it look better than the original. The rest of the feedback will be given for your second entry as that one is better with the same layout

    Second Entry-

    • Don't use a skyline picture and/or cut off the tall building, as that is the Bank of America headquarters and a vital part of the skyline and Charlotte.
    • The Navigation is too heavy, and maybe too big. Maybe if you made it more translucent, that would alleviate it a bit.
    • Don't have the navigation block the skyline pic
    • Probably should reverse the page so the navigation is on the right side.
    • Need to incorporate the logo more into the design, and generally speaking the logo/name should be on the top, the right side, or on the top, right corner.
    • I generally like the colors, background graphics, and offset table.
    • Would probably like a place to put a video.

    Sikka 2010

Way too traditional, review general feedback and the previous 2 feed backs.

    Brain Pain

    • Review general feedback other contestants feedback.
    • I like the idea of the pics on the navigation even though they should probably be a little crisper.
    • I like the tinting of the skyline, but probably not that skyline and it's a little strong.
    • Using the logo color as the base is a little too overpowering.

    AlyGames

    • The overall concept is good for a traditional site structure, so you may be able to make it work, but not sure.
    • I kind of like the colors, but the tan/cream color becomes too much after awhile.
    • I kind of like the background but it is a little too feminine.
    • The navigation, while unique, needs to be so that the text is horizontal so it can be read easily.
    • Don't cut off buildings in skyline.
    • Don't edit "Search Charlotte MLS"
    • No red text
    • I would probably match the logo color for your headings in this example
    • I like the prominence of the company name.

    Phenomenon

    • Review general feedback other contestants feedback.
    • Good use of the Queen's crown.
    • Too plain and generic overall

    Bizzard

    • Hmm.. For the structure, layout and simplicity you have a nice pragmatic design.
    • Review general feedback other contestants feedback.
    • I like the size of the boxes, one medium, and two smaller ones along with a good placement for video.
    • But I need something with more pizazz and wow factor.
    • I may want this design or something similar for my other sites.

Thanks everyone, look forward to the revisions and new entries.

    Scott

I like comb's 2nd entry for it's cleanness and swirly background, alygames for the uniqueness factor, and bizzards for he organization.

But really i would start fresh out side of the traditional layout and try what i described above.

    thanks
